About the Role:

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with Maverick Power you will be working with our engineering and manufacturing teams to design and produce power distribution and control systems for industry leading customers all over the world. Your work will be exciting and varied working on projects which require knowledge of applications, electrical/electronics, mechanical, manufacturing, quality and safety. Never a dull day, and always a challenging problem to solve in a collaborative, goal focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical design for low and medium voltage switchgear, switchboards, panel boards, and control panels.
  • Evaluate drawings and specifications to develop designs that meet customer requirements.
  • Design electrical enclosures meeting applicable UL, ANSI, IEEE, etc. safety standards.
  • Create bills of materials, specify parts, work with internal and external manufacturing.
  • Develop test plans for product validation and certification.
  • Work with 3rd party labs to test and analyze data.
  • Act as point of contact with other Mavericks and outside engineering firms.
  • Determine deliverable due dates and hold to the schedule.
  • Lead interaction with other functions and locations to determine optimum product/process solutions.
  • Additional responsibilities include but not limited to developing engineering solutions for the custom low-voltage switchboards, switchgear, panelboards, and medium-voltage switchgear, process improvement, and writing documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology
  • Minimum of 5 years mechanical design experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with 3D CAD, SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience regarding the assembly of bills of material, drawing packages, work instructions, and testing plans
  • Previous design experience with low and medium-voltage switchgear assemblies/systems and associated equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solidworks CSWA/P/E certifications are desirable.
  • Working knowledge of UL 891, UL 508A, IEEE/ANSI, and NEC/NFPA 70E standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.
  • Prolonged periods standing on the manufacturing floor and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to navigate the warehouse and reach items both high and low.
  • Must have vision correctable to 20/20 and be able to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, boots, gloves, etc.).
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and work at heights for extended periods.
  • Duties are performed in a loud production setting subject to extreme temperatures. Some duties may be required to be performed outside.

May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
