Job description

Formed in 1974, Harvard Management Company (“HMC”) manages Harvard University's endowment and related financial assets. Our singular mission is to help ensure Harvard University has the financial resources to maintain and expand its leadership in teaching, learning, and research for future generations. The endowment is managed by a highly experienced generalist investment team whose members each take ownership of the entire portfolio, regardless of asset class. HMC's operational structure brings a wide range of expertise to our portfolio management. These functions include legal, compliance, finance and accounting, human resources and administrative services as well as information technology to develop and implement the systems necessary to support our investment activities.

Summary:

This individual will support the Human Resources team with core responsibilities focused on compensation, HRIS/payroll and also provide support to performance management processes and benefits. As part of a 4-person HR team, this individual will gain meaningful exposure across all aspects of the talent life cycle and grow as both an HR specialist and business partner. This role requires a hands-on human resource professional with excellent attention to detail, strong analytics and execution and ability to juggle multiple priorities.  The ideal candidate is interested in developing a career in HR, has a strong customer service orientation and thrives in a multi-tasking environment. 

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Tactical execution of year end compensation process including modeling and data management
  • Assist in management of year-end compensation process including data preparation, collaboration within the HR team and supporting end users and running related compensation analyses
  • Play an integral role on compensation budgeting, accruals, annual audit, and all related analytics
  • Responsible for maintaining HRIS across the employee life cycle in both third-party applications and internally developed databases
  • Alongside the benefits manager, collaborate on payroll reconciliation, retirement plan reporting and administration. Assist in annual benefits renewals, trend analysis and management presentations
  • Review of data management and process flows across HR systems with a mind towards improving efficiency and reporting; proactively suggests changes and refinements to improve processes
  • Participate in firm-wide compensation surveys including compilation and submission of compensation data and analytical reporting on results
  • Support HR Business partner in annual evaluation process, performance management, and firm-wide training initiatives
  • Plays a lead role in developing organized workflows around core HR processes
  • Evaluate opportunities to implement AI efficiencies across different HR processes
  • Collaborate and provide backup coverage on recruiting coordination, employee onboarding/offboarding
  • Assist in other HR initiatives and programs as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist, compensation, benefits or analytics role
  • Self-starter with intellectual curiosity and demonstrated initiative
  • Strong analytical capabilities and organization skills
  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently 
  • Intermediate Excel skills (experience with excel databases or macros a plus) and demonstrated proficiency with the rest of the Windows environment
  • Experience with ADP a plus

  • Exceptional interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience handling highly sensitive and confidential matters discreetly and exercising appropriate judgment 

 Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary range for this job at the time of posting. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus. Actual base salary pay will be based on several factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Other Details:

  • HMC is operating on a hybrid work model where employees are in the office from Tuesday to Thursday and remote on other days
