CLERK - PAYROLL

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for financial integrity of the property's payroll, for establishing and maintaining employee payroll records and providing dedicated quality processing services and error free payroll to our team members along with the Payroll Manager.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Creates an atmosphere that induces guests to make Hard Rock Northern Indiana their choice for gaming entertainment; responsible for actively building and retaining guest relations and acts as a mentor to team members in order to provide superior guest service.
• Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and development / division transfers.
• Balances the payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and worker's compensation payments.
• Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
• Assists with month-end close and runs monthly reports as needed.
• Adheres to all Indiana Gaming Regulations.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Attend seminars when needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)
Accounting or Business Administration degree or minimum of 3-5 years' experience in related field preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):
• Must obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Indiana Gaming Commission.
• Must successfully pass background check.
• Must maintain strict confidentiality relative to financial data and casino policies.
• Must successfully pass drug screening.
• Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Federal and State tax laws.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, email, spreadsheets, and databases to include excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

ABILITY TO:
• Research, analyze, comprehend, and act upon information and be aware of the business environment in order to effectively manage areas of responsibility.
• Effectively communicate with outside contacts and all levels of team members.
• Use a calculator, computer keyboard, and computer applications including spreadsheet programs.
• Be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
• This position spends time on the Casino floor and is subject to varying levels of crowds and noise.
