We are seeking MAs for the following areas:

Sleep Clinic

Job Summary:

Medical Assistant (MA) I personnel perform a variety of clinical tasks within their scope of training and certification, under the direct supervision of the healthcare providers working in the Gritman clinics and in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by the Idaho Board of Medicine, Idaho Board of Nursing and Gritman Medical Center. The Medical Assistant will demonstrate safe and competent care, reflective of the philosophy and standards of Gritman Medical Center following policies and procedures. The Medical Assistant will demonstrate a code of conduct reflective of a professional health care provider and act in accordance with our mission, vision, and values. The below Essential Functions are subject to change based on the organizational needs and the ever-changing environment of healthcare.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Annual participation and validation of skills at Hospital Clinic's skills fair required.

Minimum Work Experience

Must have experience working with computers and have the ability to document and communicate via office systems.

Education and/or experience in a Medical Office setting is preferred.

Required Skills

Must have exceptional customer service skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, positive attitude, and must support and demonstrate the Gritman Way values and behavioral standards at all times. Must have the ability to work closely with others, have a pleasant attitude at all times and be willing to exceed the expectations of patients, visitors, other providers and coworkers. Must have great organizational skills and be able to prioritized tasks and responsibilities. Must be able to work and complete tasks with little supervision.

Essential Functions:

-Schedule sleep studies, pulmonary functions tests, and smoke cessation classes.

-Prepare rooms after sleep studies.

-Assist in EKGs.

Patient Intake & Documentation of Clinical Care:

M.A.s are responsible for preparing exam rooms, assisting patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for age/gender appropriate patient assessments, documentation of clinical intake, monitoring, patient interventions, and outcomes to care. M.A.s are responsible to document all care and communication provided to (or about) our patients.

CLIA-Waived Lab Testing:

M.A.s are responsible for performing CLIA-waived lab testing in the clinic and compliance with all related regulations and quality assurance measures. M.A.s perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws in the clinic and prepare blood samples for laboratory processing. All clinical personnel are responsible for staying up to date on blood collection policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as maintaining competency for each test performed.

Administer in-Office Diagnostic Tests:

M.A.s perform a variety of in-office diagnostic tests, including but not limited to, EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, etc. under the direct supervision of the healthcare provider.

Assist Healthcare Provider During Exams & Procedures:

M.A.s assist the provider during examinations and procedures as needed and within their scope of practice. M.A.s may also perform duties of a medical scribe and perform documentation during patient examinations and procedures as directed by the healthcare provider, including entering orders and referrals.

Medication Prior Authorizations:

M.A.s will be responsible for performing medication prior authorizations with the patient's insurance company.

Online Incident Reporting:

M.A.s will be responsible for reporting any variances, near misses, or patient complaints regarding clinical care using the organizations online incident reporting software. Reporting is a duty and obligation of the employee to promote safe patient care, a safe working environment, support process improvement and increase patient satisfaction.

Inventory Control and Medical Supplies:

M.A.s will be responsible for scanning/ordering medical supplies and monitoring inventory of medical supplies in compliance with applicable Joint Commission and Rural Healthcare guidelines. M.A.s will bring suggestions for supplies in regards to improvement in quality/safety of care to the attention of the clinical lead and/or director.

EHR Clinical In-box:

Processes electronic documents both incoming and outgoing through electronic fax and clinical in-box in EHR. This includes, but is not limited to, patient cases/phone calls/portal, processing and labeling incoming medical records, refill requests, consult notes, lab results, and other correspondence.

Miscellaneous:

Assist overall function of office by monitoring front office area and waiting room for safety, security, privacy, and/or patient concerns. Promptly contacts 9-1-1 for emergency situations. Promptly notifies appropriate staff and leadership in the event of an incident or complaint AND utilizes the online reporting system and/or EHR to document as per protocol. Relays necessary non-urgent information to team leads and/or director (i.e. office supplies needed, malfunction of equipment, etc.)

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in The Gritman Way.


Functional Demands:

Population Served:

Neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. All genders, race, ethnicity, sociopolitical and socioeconomic demographics, marital and sexual preferences groups, developmental and physical abilities, religions, and nationalities served.

Physical Demands:

Fast paced office environment that requires the ability to prioritize as the situations occur. Some lifting (<35 lbs), reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, up and down from computer to other equipment, typing, reading small print, reading computer screens, sitting and standing are required for this job. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range, constant talking, hearing, and seeing to interact with patients, visitors, and staff

Environmental Conditions:

Indoors. Exposure to limited amount of outdoor environment when sitting at Front desks. Exposure to ice and snow during winter months when entering/exiting building and ensuring entrances are clear and de-iced for customers and visitors. Exposure to public germs and viruses.
