2023 CAI Summer Intern - Software Engineering Intern

Cox Automotive, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join our Instant Cash Offer team in Irvine, California. As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be a part of a team that designs and develops robust and scalable web services and consumer-facing applications.

Throughout the summer, students will have the opportunity to complete challenging business-critical projects alongside some of the most talented individuals in the automotive technology industry. The program will allow students to enhance their leadership skills through the delivery of professional development educational components as well as exposure to existing Cox leaders.

Job Overview

As a Software Engineering Intern, on the Instant Cash Offer team you will:

• Be a part of a team of software engineers that design and develop code that consistently adheres to good programming practices.
• Build modern UI's using REACT.js
• Design, develop, and maintain high volume Microsoft.NET C# web services using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
• Design and maintain schemas in our databases.
• Write efficient SQL for loading and querying data
• Collaborate with product managers and technologists to solve business problems
• Live by Agile (particularly Scrum) principles and collaborate with team members using Agile techniques including test-driven development, code reviews, and retrospectives.

Technologies We Use

• Development languages/frameworks : C#, JavaScript, REACT, Docket
• Databases : MSSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, MySQL
• Amazon : AWS SDK, Elastic Beanstalk, ElastiCache, S3, and AWS cloud-native architectures
• DevOps Tools : NewRelic, AWS CodeBuild, TeamCity, Splunk

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Design and develop high quality code.
• Build modern UI's and high-volume web services that meet industry standards
• Participate in Design discussions to address complex problems.
• Collaborate closely with team members, product managers to ensure business objectives are met
• Engage in Agile Practices
• Perform trouble-shooting efforts and investigations when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• Pursuing BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related field
• Internship positions are located in Irvine CA; Cox does not provide a housing allowance.

Preferred

• Strong C# and object-oriented programming skills
• Hands-on experience with designing and implementing on AWS is preferred.
• Skills in designing and implementing high volume web services
• Database development skills, including advanced SQL, relational and NoSQL database technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to pay attention to detail and collaborate and function effectively in a team environment and independently on complex problems.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Curiosity and hunger to learn new technologies.

USD 22.79 - 34.23 per hour
