SEASONAL CAMP COUNSELOR
Starting at $14.00/hour
The Recreation Counselor’s primary responsibility is to create a safe, positive, and engaging environment that promotes good, clean summer fun while supporting the personal growth of each camper. Counselors are expected to consistently demonstrate care, respect, and genuine concern for all participants. Through structured and recreational program activities, counselors help campers develop new skills, explore interests, and experience a sense of achievement and recognition. Counselors serve as positive role models by exhibiting responsible, respectful, and mature behavior at all times.This position reports to the Recreation Supervisor.             CAMP COUNSELOR Duties The following list of essential functions is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not exhaustive, and management reserves the right to assign additional duties as needed.
  • Assist in the implementation of program activities, including sports, team games, arts, crafts, and music.
  • Support Supervisor in maintaining adequate inventory of program supplies.
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and coaching to campers as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, keeping them informed of daily activities and any issues or concerns.
  • Assist with general facility upkeep, including cleaning and trash removal.
  • Ensure all program areas are safe and sanitary; report any concerns to Supervisor.
  • Track and maintain accurate camper attendance records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
 ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Must be at least 16 years of age. 

PREFFERED REQUIREMENT

At least one (1) year of experience supervising children in a summer camp, daycare, after-school program, or school setting.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, typewriters, copiers, calculators, etc. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work may involve standing, walking and running. Requires the ability to maintain body equilibrium when bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, reaching and/or stretching arms, legs or other parts of body, and to physically maneuver over and/or upon varying terrain, surfaces or physical structures. Physical demand requirements are for Light to Medium Work.
