We are currently seeking an Industrial Hygienist. This position is located in Columbus, OH

 

 

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary purpose of this position is to conduct high-quality, on-time, and within-budget project work.

  • Work with a Lead Industrial Hygienist and coordinate and execute all aspects of industrial hygiene (IH) assessment planning and field work to achieve successful performance of the project objectives.
  • Lead a field team to conduct standardized IH surveillance data collection to include identification of industrial processes, hazards, and controls utilized.
  • Perform pre-survey and survey facility assessment analysis and IH assessments (e.g., noise surveys, noise dosimetry, air sampling, ventilation surveys) in broad range of work environments. 
  • Recognize, evaluate, recommend corrective actions to mitigate environmental conditions or process hazards in the workplace that causes sickness, impaired health, or illness.
  • Perform the analysis of the data acquired and the prediction of probable effects of exposures on the health and well-being of workers; and the selection and recommendation of appropriate controls, including engineering, administrative, and personal protective equipment.
  • Complete and modify IH assessment checklists and comprehensive IH reports.
  • Perform IH surveillance data entry into the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System - Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH).
  • Conduct risk communication to supervisors, employees, and other management-level staff.
THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
  • A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; OR 
  • A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science; OR
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of industrial hygiene to include industrial shop surveys and IH data collection; OR
  • If certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene shall have a minimum of one year experience in industrial shop surveys and IH data collection. 
  • Experience with data entry into DOEHRS-IH information management system. 
  • A strong familiarity and experience applying OSHA, NIOSH, US Army Corps of Engineers, ANSI, and other Health and Safety codes and standards. 
  • Able to communicate clearly, able to work as team player, able to adjust to changing work environment; pleasant personality able to speak respectfully and confidently with multicultural and diverse workforce of varying educational levels.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel and Word and other basic software applications.
  • Able to travel up to 75% via air or vehicle to project field sites located throughout the Continental United States or other US Territories/International.
  • Must be able to obtain or maintain a government security clearance and/or favorable Background Investigation (BI).
  • Physically able to perform light to moderate duties while using personal protective equipment and working in extreme temperatures and conditions. 
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED
  • Prior military experience in performing IH shop surveys, assessments, and data collection. 
  • Possess a Secret security clearance
