The Logistics & Industrial Engineer plays a key role in evaluating, designing, and implementing technologies and processes used across retail and direct-to-consumer fulfillment distribution centers. This position focuses on optimizing equipment, space, labor, and workflows while providing technical support to enterprise logistics operations.
You will partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to develop and implement capital projects-ranging from RFP development through implementation-and support operations through successful launch and stabilization phases.
Responsibilities
• Develop, deploy, and maintain accurate engineered labor standards by evaluating the best methods across multiple distribution center job functions.
• Analyze existing distribution processes using continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, MTM, etc.) to increase capacity and optimize labor and equipment utilization while eliminating waste.
• Contributes to the conceptual develop of new processes, including estimates for cost, schedule, efficiency, and operational capability.
• Support logistics operations by training teams on the best methods, work measurement techniques, and labor management tools.
• Perform relational database administration and advanced analytics to support data-driven recommendations and process innovations.
• Assist with the design, procurement, and installation of material handling equipment under the guidance of senior engineering team members, progressing to project ownership and vendor management.
• Follow and execute standard operating procedures for capital projects, including RFP development, pre-bid conferences, bid evaluations, vendor comparison matrices, contract recommendations, and project execution.
• Manage projects from initiation through completion, providing operational launch and post-implementation support.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in distribution, manufacturing, or industrial engineering environments.
• Experience with work measurement and engineered labor standards using tools such as MOST or LaborPro.
• Familiarity with labor management systems; Manhattan Associates experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of Lean process improvement principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.
• Flexibility to accommodate varying work schedules as needed.
Preferred:
• Green Belt (or higher) Lean Six Sigma certification.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, scheduling tools, relational databases, and business analytics platforms (e.g., MicroStrategy).
• Experience with AutoCAD, simulation software, and work measurement tools.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate multi-functionally with engineering, operations, finance, and client-facing teams.
• Prior experience mentoring or coaching interns or co-op students.
• Strong experience in implementing robotics & automation projects.
