Job description


As a Controls Engineer, for Mark Andy Global Headquarters in Chesterfield, MO you will be responsible for successfully designing and developing control systems for custom OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). This role involves programming PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. The Controls Engineer will collaborate with mechanical and electrical design teams to integrate automation solutions, troubleshoot system issues, and optimize performance. Additional responsibilities include preparing documentation, supporting installation, and commissioning, and providing technical expertise throughout project lifecycles as well as contributing to production efficiency by evaluating performance and proposing and implementing improvements.

Schedule: M-F, 8 to 5, in office. No travel for this position.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform engineering design, development and problem-solving for equipment, manufacturing and supporting processes.
  • Provides technical assistance in manufacturing and supporting processes as needed by internal customers.
  • Manages relations with vendors to facilitate the specification and selection of vendor components.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in PLC operation, integration, and programming and proficiency in GUI and high-level language programming.
  • Be recognized for application of theoretical electrical and controls engineering knowledge and process understanding.
  • Recognize, define, and develop new electrical/control system concepts.
  • Provide designs that are manufacturable and meet safety standards.
  • Completion of design documentation with minimal errors including part and assembly drawings, Bills of Materials, Specification sheets, Modification kits, schematics, point to point diagrams, harness diagrams, source code, and project files.
  • Assume responsibility for designs valued greater than $500,000.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated competency in design and use of engineering system tools.
  • Familiar with Electrical codes such as NFPA-79, NEC, and EC standards.
  • Branch circuit design.
  • Understanding/competency with: PLCs / relay logic, motor controls, programming, GUI design.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years of work experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design and drafting software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope.
  • Ability to interpret and implement specifications.
