The Opportunity

Tower Eleven is partnering with an established engineering and systems integration company to identify an experienced Senior Controls Engineer for its Albuquerque, New Mexico team.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced automation professional who can design, implement, test, and commission complex industrial control systems while also leading engineers, working directly with customers, and helping drive successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience across PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA environments, with particular interest in candidates experienced with Rockwell Automation and GE CIMPLICITY.

What You'll Do
  • Design and implement industrial automation and control systems using PLC, DCS, RTU, HMI, and SCADA technologies.
  • Develop control system architectures and select appropriate hardware, software, instrumentation, and networking components.
  • Program PLC/DCS systems using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Sequential Function Chart, and related languages.
  • Develop and configure HMI/SCADA visualization and monitoring systems.
  • Lead system integration, testing, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning.
  • Work directly with customers to define requirements and translate operational needs into effective automation solutions.
  • Lead and mentor engineers and technicians throughout project execution.
  • Develop project schedules, execution plans, budgets, and work breakdown structures.
  • Manage or support automation projects valued up to approximately $1M.
  • Support project estimating, technical standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Help build strong customer relationships that lead to repeat business.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of controls or industrial automation engineering experience.
  • Strong PLC, DCS, HMI, and/or SCADA experience.
  • Experience with platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or Modicon.
  • Industrial networking experience including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and/or Modbus.
  • Experience taking automation projects through design, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineers or technicians.
  • Strong customer-facing and problem-solving skills.
