Job description

 
As part of ASM's Global Hardware Platform team, you'll help shape the future of semiconductor technology by designing mechanical hardware for our advanced process chambers. Your work will directly support ALD, PE-ALD, and Epitaxy applications, enabling the next generation of memory chips and microprocessors. Collaborating across R&D and engineering teams, you'll bring innovative concepts to life and drive them into high-volume manufacturing. 
 Responsibilities:
  • Design mechanical systems and products supporting ASM process chambers using sound engineering principles
  • Drive data-based design decisions in a cross-functional team environment
  • Lead hardware development from concept through testing and HVM readiness
  • Create and manage 3D CAD models (Creo) and 2D drawings with GD&T
  • Perform engineering analysis including structural, thermal, and fluid dynamics
  • Maintain product configuration using modern PLM tools
  • Participate in design reviews and drive DFx activities
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve fabrication challenges
  • Prepare documentation for manufacturing and testing
  • Support cost estimation for new features and enhancements
 Requirements:
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD (Creo preferred)
  • Experience with FEA and CFD tools (e.g., Ansys, Comsol)
  • Familiarity with part fabrication methods (CNC, sheet metal, welding, coatings)
  • Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
  • Comfortable working in lab and cleanroom environments, including manual tasks
 Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in semiconductor or capital equipment industry
  • Knowledge of vacuum systems, wafer handling, gas/fluid delivery, robotics
  • Experience with modern DFx practices
  • Familiarity with SEMI standards (e.g., S2)
  • Experience with PLM tools and methodologies
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and manage large design projects
  • Willingness to travel (<10%) domestically and internationally
