What is the difference between Workforce Manager vs Workforce Analyst?
| Aspect | Workforce Manager | Workforce Analyst |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field; experience in workforce planning | Bachelor's degree in Data Analysis, Business, or related field; skills in data analytics |
| Work Environment | Oversees staffing, scheduling, and labor management; often in call centers, retail, or manufacturing | Analyzes workforce data, forecasts staffing needs; works closely with Workforce Managers |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Common in HR, operations, and staffing departments across various industries | Used in data-driven roles within HR, operations, and analytics teams |

Job description
Summary:
The HR Manager, Workforce Analytics serves as a strategic leader bridging HR data and enterprise workforce strategy for UNC Health. This role translates complex data into actionable insights that guide workforce strategy, inform business decisions, and drive organizational outcomes. Acting as a trusted advisor, this leader partners with HR and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven recommendations, advance workforce planning, and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
This role has primary accountability for the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of HR reporting, ensuring stakeholders have access to accurate, timely, and actionable workforce data to support decision-making. Effectively communicates methodologies, insights, and outcomes to stakeholders ranging from peers to senior executives, driving understanding and adoption of workforce analytics through strong business storytelling.
Leads HR data governance strategy by establishing policies, standards, and practices that ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance across systems. Defines and maintains enterprise workforce data definitions and reporting standards to ensure a single, trusted source of truth. Partners with HR, IT, and data stakeholders to align on data structures, governance processes, and responsible data management practices, reinforcing confidence in workforce data and reporting outputs.
Leads, coaches, and develops a high-performing team of analysts, fostering capability, accountability, and continuous growth while driving excellence in analytics and reporting delivery.
