Job description

Overview

This role is a part of the Trade Finance Solutioning Team within the Global Banking and Markets Solutions division. The primary duties of this role are to support the issuance, advising, and processing of standby and commercial letter of credit transactions as well as documentary collections for our clients who import and export globally. This associate will work closely with both our internal and external clients, compliance, and the broader trade finance team who will rely on the specialist’s knowledge. The associate is expected to communicate directly with clients via phone and email as a trusted advisor, building strong and lasting banking relationships. All functions are performed to generate revenue while reducing risk including financial, reputational, and compliance risks.


Responsibilities

• Draft and/or issue standby and commercial letters of credit aligned with customers’ needs and in compliance with Bank policies and International Standby Practices (ISP98) or UCP600. Monitor maturity dates of standby letters of credit. Ensure established fees are collected for each transaction and follow the appropriate procedures for exceptions.


•Examine documents presented under standby letters of credit and documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading presented under commercial letters of credit for compliance with the terms and conditions of the letter of credit, UCP600/ISP98, international banking practices, Bank policy, OFAC, BSA/AML and suspicious activity and red flags. Provide timely notice of well-documented discrepancies to resolve issues and reduce risk for clients and the Bank.


• Prepare outgoing documentary collections for timely delivery to foreign banks and provide timely notice to drawees of documents presented for incoming documentary collections ensuring documents included on cover letters agree with the documents presented. Documents are also reviewed for compliance with OFAC, BSA/AML and suspicious activity and red flags.


•Accurately enter data in the Trade Finance platform used by the Bank to ensure proper reporting and data flow to downstream systems.
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of experience in International Banking and either International Payments or International Trade Services. OR High School Diploma or GED and 4 years of experience in International Banking and either International Payments or International Trade Services.

Preferred Area of Experience: International Banking or Trade Finance, knowledge of accounting and world geography, MS Office, and Swift. Work toward Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) certification
