Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads - both students and employers - for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC's institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Tidewater Community College's Center for Workforce Solutions is the largest provider of workforce development services in southeastern Virginia. The Workforce Solutions mission is to provide dynamic and customized education, training and services responding to workforce needs and to prepare individuals to succeed through personal development and career preparation.
Our Corporate Solutions department has the capability to serve as the key provider of open enrollment or customized in-house training and development programs for organizations. Our programs cover a broad scope of areas - we can adapt existing programs, we can custom-tailor programs, and we can develop new programs to specifically meet identified needs.
Job DescriptionThe Center for Workforce Solutions is in search of Corporate Solutions - Professional Development Training Instructors to add to our roster of faculty/contract adjuncts for assignments in training and professional development programs on an as-needed basis for the following programs:
  • Project Management Certification (PMP®)
  • Six Sigma (all levels)
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Human Resource Management
  • Leadership
  • Customer Service
  • Hospitality (Hotel, Restaurant, Gaming, Yacht and Country Clubs)
  • Management and Supervisory
  • Personality Assessments (i.e., Strengthsfinder®, MBTI, DISC)
  • Computer IT and Technology
  • Summer Camps

Functional Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and implement innovative cutting-edge, customized corporate and professional training programs for our diverse clients.
  • Responsible for instruction and assessment activities in area of expertise in a customized format to meet the unique training needs of our corporate clients
  • Develop course material and activities
  • Provide assistance in activities directly related to scheduled instruction

Work location may vary (Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach).
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Appropriate certification to area of expertise, where applicable
  • Demonstrated academic and/or professional expertise in corresponding field

  • Prior experience teaching adult learners
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology in creating and delivering course content
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge, competence, and currency in the subject area to be taught
