Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Workday Financials Architect to lead the design, configuration, and ongoing optimization of our Workday Financials environment. This individual will serve as the functional and technical lead for FINs, partnering closely with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, well-architected solutions aligned with organizational goals.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on Workday Financials experience, experience working in Jira within an Agile framework, and a demonstrated ability to lead requirements gathering and solution design efforts.
Primary Responsibilities
Workday Financials Architecture & Design
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and solution architect for Workday Finance Modules (GL, AP/AR, Revenue Management, Expenses, Procurement, and Fixed Assets)
  • Lead system design and project implementations across core FINs modules (GL, AP, Banking & Settlements, Procurement, etc.).
  • Ensure scalable, sustainable configuration aligned with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Review and optimize business processes and system integrations.
  • Maintain governance over configuration, security, and reporting design.

Requirements Gathering & Solution Development
  • Lead requirements discovery sessions with Finance, Accounting, and operational stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into well-designed Workday solutions.
  • Develop functional specifications and support technical documentation.
  • Partner with integration teams to define inbound/outbound data requirements.
  • Ensure traceability from requirements through design, build, testing, and deployment.

Project Management & Agile Delivery
  • Manage initiatives and prioritize workstreams using Jira.
  • Operate within an Agile/Scrum framework, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and participating in retrospectives.
  • Define user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Track progress, risks, and dependencies across projects.
  • Drive cross-functional coordination to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership.
  • Communicate complex system concepts in business-friendly terms.
  • Lead workshops, training and design sessions when needed.
  • Provide strategic input on roadmap planning and system enhancements.

Testing & Deployment
  • Lead and participate in functional and system testing activities (i.e., unit, integration, regression, and UAT).
  • Participate in release management and production deployment processes.
  • Ensure strong documentation and knowledge transfer practices.
  • Support IT SOC Audit requests as they relate to the Workday platform

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on Workday Financials experience
  • Demonstrable experience as a Workday Financials Architect, Lead, or Senior Consultant
  • Extensive knowledge of core FINs modules (GL, AP, AR, Procurement, Assets, Banking)
  • Strong experience gathering and documenting business requirements
  • Demonstrated success working in Jira
  • Experience working with the Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of Workday Financials experience
  • Workday Financials certification(s) (Active or Expired)
  • Experience leading large-scale implementations or major FINs transformations
  • Experience with integrations (Workday Studio, EIB, third-party systems)
  • Experience with Accounting Center / Prism
  • Experience with FDM, Business Assets, and Banking Modules
  • Strong accounting and finance process knowledge
  • Experience in financial services or asset management environments
  • Portfolio Accounting experience

MD Salary: $100-$125K. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
