Job Description Technical Product Manager - Workday HCM Contract Role Hybrid (2/3 days a week Onsite) / Lewisville, TX The Technology Product Manager, Workday CoE is a strategic and execution-oriented product management role within the Workday Center of Excellence (CoE). This individual serves as the horizontal product leader across the HCM and Corporate Applications ecosystem, owning product vision, roadmap, and integration strategy for capabilities that support HR, workforce, and enterprise operations. Workday HCM is the primary system of record and integration hub for HR, while the role also supports the broader enterprise technology ecosystem and non-Workday initiatives aligned to CoE or enterprise-wide outcomes.

Working with the Sr. Director, Workday CoE & Corporate Applications, CoE functional leads, and Business Product Owners, the Technology Product Manager focuses on WHAT gets built and WHY. The role operates through influence rather than direct authority and partners closely with HCM functional teams, Platform Engineering, Integration Engineering, Architecture, Security, Application Engineering, and other cross-functional teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Product Strategy & Roadmap Ownership Define and own the product vision and roadmap for the Workday CoE HCM platform across Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting, Learning, Performance, Compensation, and connected enterprise systems, aligned with HR accuracy, workforce compliance, operational efficiency, and enterprise growth objectives. Translate business requirements, HR standards, and enterprise rules into scalable product requirements and system capabilities within Workday HCM and connected platforms. Serve as the Workday relationship owner for HCM, representing client product direction in Workday QBRs and aligning the CoE roadmap with Workday's product direction, release calendar, and innovation agenda. Demand Intake & Delivery Coordination Own demand intake for HCM initiatives by capturing, triaging, sequencing, and communicating enhancement requests and new capability needs.

Support project charters, requirements, and user stories for CoE-managed HCM initiatives, ensuring business context and product intent are clear to functional and technical delivery teams. Partner with release management to coordinate initiative timing, deployment readiness, and stakeholder communication across the Workday release calendar. Prepare and present roadmap materials, capability updates, and outcome reports for CoE leadership, executive sponsors, and Business Product Owners.

Integration Strategy & Cross-System Architecture Own integration strategy across Workday HCM and the enterprise ecosystem, defining how HR and workforce data flows between Workday and connected systems, including third-party applications, reporting platforms, benefits carriers, payroll engines, and AI agents. Collaborate with Integration Engineering, Architecture, and Security to ensure integrations meet enterprise standards, SOX compliance requirements, and data governance expectations. Agentic AI & Business Process Innovation Identify and prioritize HR and workforce workflows suitable for reengineering through agentic AI, evaluating automation potential, feasibility, risk, and business impact across recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll exception handling, and performance management.

Define product requirements for AI agents that execute multi-step HR tasks with human-in-the-loop oversight, escalation triggers, SOX-compliant audit trails, and appropriate Workday integration and data governance controls. Champion AI-enabled development and testing practices across the CoE and partner with leadership and Platform Engineering on AI governance frameworks. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as the primary technology product interface for HR leadership, translating complex platform and AI concepts into business-relevant outcomes across Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting, Learning, and Performance.

Work with CoE functional leads, Platform Engineering, Integration Engineering, Application Engineering, Architecture, Security, and the Digital Delivery Office to deliver scalable, supportable solutions. Facilitate requirements workshops, business case development, and stakeholder prioritization sessions; represent the product perspective in governance forums and steering committees. Financial & Business Case Governance Support business cases for CoE and enterprise technology investments by defining value propositions, target outcomes, and ROI considerations tied to automation, AI, and HR capability improvements.

Provide product-level input to CoE budgeting and forecasting and maintain awareness of spend aligned with HCM roadmap priorities. Agentic AI & Emerging Technology: Foundational understanding of autonomous agents, multi-agent orchestration, RAG, and tool-use patterns, with the ability to evaluate HR automation use cases and define requirements for AI-assisted workflows, auditability, and human-in-the-loop controls.

HR Domain Knowledge: Understanding of benefits administration, payroll cycles, recruiting, learning management, and performance management sufficient to define product requirements and engage HR stakeholders. Release & Delivery Coordination: Familiarity with structured intake, deployment readiness, stakeholder communication, and release management for SaaS platform enhancements and upgrades in large enterprise environments. Business & Interpersonal Competencies Strategic and execution-oriented: Able to move between long-term capability direction and hands-on requirements, prioritization, and stakeholder workshops.

Influence without authority: Proven ability to drive alignment and outcomes across cross-functional teams without direct reporting relationships and build trust with business and technical stakeholders.
