Job description

Position OverviewNIRA Inc., a fast-growing women-owned small business, is seeking a Junior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations with a primary focus on payroll and accounts payable. This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee timesheets, expense reports, payroll transactions, and vendor invoices, as well as maintaining accurate accounting records in Deltek Costpoint and other financial systems.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll ManagementReview employee timesheets and expense reports for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate approvals prior to payroll processing.Assist with employee setup and maintenance of employee information in payroll and accounting systems.Initiate and support semi-monthly payroll processing in Deltek Costpoint and iSolved.Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure employee changes, deductions, and other payroll-related information are accurately reflected in the payroll system.Prepare payroll-related journal entries in Deltek Costpoint.Assist with payroll reconciliations and investigate discrepancies or unusual transactions.Maintain organized payroll documentation and records in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.Support the Accounting and Human Resources teams with payroll-related questions and requests.Accounts Payable & Expense ManagementReview vendor invoices for accuracy, completeness, proper coding, and required supporting documentation.Route invoices to appropriate personnel for review and approval.Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on pending approvals to support timely payment processing.Schedule and process vendor payments in accordance with established payment procedures.Enter and maintain accounts payable transactions in Deltek CostpointAccounting SupportAssist with routine accounting entries and other accounting-related tasks as assigned.Support month-end close activities by ensuring payroll, accounts payable, and related transactions are recorded accurately and timely.Assist with account reconciliations and research discrepancies as needed.Ensure accounting documentation is complete, properly maintained, and readily available for internal review and audit support.QualificationsRequired:Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.1-2 years of progressive accounting experience.Preferred:Experience with accounting systems used in government contracting (e.g., Deltek Costpoint).Experience in a government contracting environment.Key CompetenciesExceptional attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.About NIRA Inc.NIRA Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
