The Firm seeks a Litigation Paralegal to assist the Litigation practice groups in all phases of the litigation process from the initial complaint to discovery through to trial and appeal. Responsibilities
  • Assisting attorneys in all phases of litigation including motion practice, discovery, trial and post-trial
  • Drafting documents/pleadings including: subpoenas, deposition notices, document requests and responses, interrogatories and responses, request for admissions, affidavits/affirmations, answers, notices, declarations and agreements
  • Coordinating e-filing and service process with the Managing Attorney's office for federal/state court or judicial panels
  • Compiling, organizing and reviewing responsive and related production documents
  • Organizing, reviewing and managing all case documents including productions, depositions, exhibits, expert reports and e-mails in designated databases
  • Cite-checking, Shepardizing, Bluebooking and proofreading court filings and related position papers
  • Performing statistical and factual research and compiling data for analyses
  • Reviewing, organizing and maintaining document productions, developing and conducting key word searches, drafting and maintaining privilege logs
  • Digesting/summarizing deposition and other transcripts including expert witnesses
  • Assisting in all phases of pre-trial activities including witness binders, organizing trial exhibits, coordinating witness attendance at trial, and coordinating the trial logistics
  • Attending and assisting at trial/hearings including: preparing and maintaining exhibits and demonstratives, tracking exhibits introduced and marked into evidence
  • Supervising junior paralegals as needed
  • Interact and liaise with clients and vendors
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of law firm experience assisting on Litigation matters
  • Strong written and organizational skills
  • Experience working with litigation databases; familiarity with Relativity is a plus
  • Ability to quickly and proactively identify and analyze problems, develop solutions and deliver results
  • Ability to work well under pressure, in a team environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently
  • Available to work considerable overtime when required, including evenings and weekends
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn new software and applications
This position will require physical presence in Proskauer's offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require).
