Job description

Job Description The Assistant Events Coordinator serves as a liaison between clients and the Convention Center operating staff during events. Working under the direction of the Events Staff, this position assists with the execution of events and is responsible for monitoring event operations to ensure that facilities, equipment, physical setup, and labor provided meet the requirements of the event and the client's contractual agreements, while adhering to all applicable safety, health, and fire code standards. The Assistant Events Coordinator will address operational needs and client requests, communicate with internal departments, and help troubleshoot issues that arise during events.

This is a part-time, in-person position with hours driven by the Convention Center's event schedule and operational coverage needs. Candidates must be willing to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. About Us: The Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Complex (RCPAC) has a portfolio of four stunning venues that can host anywhere from 20 to 20,000- Atlantic Union Bank Convention Center, Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, Red Hat Amphitheater, and Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek.

Duties and Responsibilities The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Address client concerns and resolve problems effectively while remaining calm and professional under pressure with a high level of customer service. Provide onsite coordination to support the successful execution of events, including real-time problem-solving and troubleshooting while maintaining detailed notes as necessary. Monitor and ensure the setup of in-house and third-party equipment is completed in accordance with lease requirements, approved room layouts, and applicable fire and life-safety standards.

Direct the work of contract personnel, including but not limited to event security staff, caterers, decorators, and other event service providers, while providing operational directions to event support staff as needed. Typical Qualifications Education and Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 1 to 3 years' experience in marketing, social media, event coordination, or related field OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted Preferred Qualifications: Experience using event management software such as Event Draw and Momentus Additional Information Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and internet-based applications Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively while consistently providing exemplary customer service Project and assignment completion with limited supervision and communicate time-sensitive information quickly, accurately, and effectively to the appropriate parties Strong organizational skills while managing the details of multiple events simultaneously Assess situations, develop effective solutions, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment ADA and Other Requirements: Physical Effort: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body
