Job description

Summary:
The Registered Nurse EMR Support performsnursing functions according to the nursing process and as defined by the OregonState Board of Nursing. The Registered Nurse EMR Support supports the patient,the physician and other staff members by serving as a liaison between thepatient and healthcare provider, using effective listening and communicatingskills.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Will participate and maintain a culture withinThe Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in theService and Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, andembrace the principles contained within
  • Provides nursing care according to thesequential steps of the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation,and evaluation
  • Directs patient flow and prepare patients forexams
  • Facilitates collection of all necessaryinformation required for patient visits. Accurately records pertinent information in the Electronic MedicalRecord and ensures necessary patient care documentation is processed in atimely manner
  • Accurately triage patient phone calls and ensurethat callbacks and prescription refills are completed in a timely fashionconsistent with provider guidelines, scope of practice, and clinic guidelines
  • Understands and follows the approvedprescription refill workflow and documentation requirements. Communicatesdirectly with provider for any refills that need provider input, or that do notmeet the workflow requirements
  • Understands and interprets currentimmunization schedule
  • Assist with patient education,medication reconciliation, and care coordination using the EMR system
  • Contribute to quality improvementinitiatives related to EMR utilization and patient care
  • Refer inquiries to appropriate resource
  • Documents pertinent information accurately
  • Perform data entry at time of call (whereapplicable)
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality
  • Proactively monitor physician schedules foraccuracy
  • Improves the quality of care throughcontinuing education and self-evaluation of the effectiveness of care. This includes attendance/participation inmost in-services/department meetings and remaining current on clinic/departmentpolicies and procedures
  • Actively participates in the cleaning ofshared work areas, keeping exam rooms clean, neat and stocked
  • Attendstaff meetings as required

Education, Licensure, and Experience:
1. Graduate of an accredited school of registerednursing required.
2. Current unencumbered State of Oregon license asa Registered Nurse required.
3. One (1) or more years of experience in anacute care hospital and/or in an individual provider's office or clinic settingpreferred.
4. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationor ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire required.
Knowledgeand Skills:
1. Evidence of working knowledge of the nursingprocess.
2. Knowledge of basic clinical skills to providepatient care.
3. Ability to work well with providers, clinical staff,and patients.
4. Ability to work on multiple taskssimultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality ofwork.
5. Experience with an electronic medical recordsystem
