How much do volunteer relocation package jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 18, 2026, the average hourly pay for volunteer relocation package in the United States is $19.14, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.42 and $20.19 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Volunteer Relocation Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Volunteer Relocation Specialist, you need knowledge of relocation processes, strong organizational abilities, and often a background in human resources or social work. Familiarity with relocation management software, visa and immigration systems, and project management tools is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and problem-solving abilities help you support and guide volunteers through transitions. These skills ensure smooth relocations, minimize stress, and provide a positive experience for both volunteers and organizations.

What types of support are typically included in a volunteer relocation package, and how can I prepare for a smooth transition?

Volunteer relocation packages often provide assistance with travel arrangements, temporary housing, and sometimes a stipend to offset living expenses. Support may also include orientation sessions, local area guides, and access to relocation coordinators who help volunteers settle in. To ensure a smooth transition, it's helpful to communicate your specific needs early, research the destination thoroughly, and stay proactive in utilizing the available resources. Collaborating with other relocated volunteers and staying in touch with your organization's HR or volunteer management team can also ease the adjustment process.

What is the difference between Volunteer Relocation Package vs Volunteer Coordinator?

FeatureVolunteer Relocation PackageVolunteer Coordinator
PurposeProvides financial and logistical support for volunteers relocating to a new areaManages volunteer programs and coordinates volunteer activities
CredentialsTypically no formal credentials required, but logistical or administrative skills are helpfulOften requires experience in volunteer management or related fields
Work EnvironmentSupport role involving planning and logistics, often remote or on-siteOffice-based or on-site at volunteer locations

The Volunteer Relocation Package focuses on assisting volunteers with relocation logistics, while the Volunteer Coordinator manages volunteer activities and programs. Both roles support volunteer efforts but serve different functions within the volunteer ecosystem.

How much do you usually get for a relocation package?

For a volunteer relocation package, the amount varies depending on the organization and location, but typically it covers moving expenses such as transportation, housing, and settling-in costs. Some programs offer a fixed stipend ranging from a few hundred to several thousand dollars to assist with relocation. It is advisable to check with the specific organization for their offered package details and eligibility requirements.

Can I earn money by volunteering?

Volunteer roles, including those with relocation packages, typically do not offer monetary compensation. Volunteers may receive benefits such as housing, travel expenses, or training, but earning a salary is uncommon in volunteer positions. Some programs may provide stipends or allowances, but these are not considered wages.

Can I get paid to relocate?

In most volunteer relocation packages, volunteers are not paid to relocate; instead, the program may cover expenses such as travel, accommodation, or stipends. Paid relocation assistance is more common in paid job positions, where employers offer financial support to help employees move for work. Volunteer roles typically focus on service rather than compensation for relocation costs.

What is a Volunteer Relocation Package?

A Volunteer Relocation Package refers to the set of benefits and support services provided to volunteers who need to move to a new location for their assignment. This package may include reimbursement for travel expenses, temporary housing, moving costs, and sometimes a small stipend to help with settling in. The exact offerings can vary widely depending on the organization and the nature of the volunteer opportunity. The goal of a relocation package is to reduce the financial burden on volunteers and ensure a smooth transition to their new environment.

Can you get paid with Worldpackers?

The Volunteer Relocation Package typically involves unpaid volunteer work through platforms like Worldpackers, which connects travelers with host organizations for cultural exchange. While some programs may offer stipends or benefits, most volunteer positions do not provide regular pay, focusing instead on experience, accommodation, and meals. It is important to review each opportunity's details to understand compensation or support offered.
