What are Visual Designers?

Visual Designers are creative professionals who focus on the appearance and aesthetics of digital products, such as websites, mobile apps, and user interfaces. They use typography, color, imagery, and layout to create visually appealing and effective designs that enhance user experience. Visual Designers often collaborate with UX designers, developers, and other team members to ensure the final product is both beautiful and functional. Their work helps communicate a brand’s message and values through visual elements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Visual Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Visual Designer, you need strong proficiency in graphic design principles, typography, color theory, and a portfolio demonstrating your creative work, often supported by a degree in design or a related field. Expertise in industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with prototyping tools like Figma or Sketch are typically required. Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills help Visual Designers work effectively with clients and cross-functional teams. These skills and qualities are crucial for creating compelling visuals that align with brand goals and ensure a seamless user experience.

Guided by our mission: simplify solutions and passionately design the future; we partner with clients to turn complex challenges into meaningful, lasting impact.
ISG employee owners are motivated by a shared goal to stretch the limits of great design and go above and beyond to positively influence each other, our clients, and the communities we serve If you're passionate about thoughtful system design, technical coordination, and creating meaningful user experiences through technology, we invite you to explore a career with ISG's Audiovisual team.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Audiovisual Designer to support planning, architectural, and engineering projects through high-quality audiovisual system design and documentation. In this role, you will contribute to projects across a range of markets by designing integrated AV, public address, and video systems that align with client needs, technical requirements, and project goals throughout the full project lifecycle.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in AV system design, consulting, or integration who enjoys translating complex technology into clear, coordinated solutions. You'll collaborate closely with architects, engineers, designers, vendors, and clients to ensure audiovisual systems are seamlessly integrated into the built environment.
Key Impact of the Role

  • Develop clear, coordinated construction documents including plans, details, signal flow diagrams and construction specifications.
  • Build and coordinate AV systems within AutoCad and Revit.
  • Work closely with vendors and manufacturers to review products and refine system designs.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and material take offs

Cross-Discipline Collaboration
  • Assist with structured cabling and low-voltage layouts.
  • Coordinate closely with team members to ensure systems are integrated and aligned.
  • Contribute to a "one team" approach-supporting others and stepping in where needed.

We've listed a compensation range that reflects our expectations for this role, including both direct and indirect components. We understand that your experience and value may fall outside of this range. If you feel you're a strong fit but your compensation needs differ, we're open to a conversation-let's talk.
