UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) continuously seeks applicants that are interested and available to work in administrative support roles on temporary assignments at the UC Irvine Campus and UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange.
We are seeking applicants with a wide range of administrative and professional experience. Administrative duties range from front office assistance to providing executive-level support to office managers and department directors. Majority of assignments are full-time hours; however, some part-time openings may be available.
We recruit for this position on an on-going basis to build a talent pool of potential candidates.



Your Role on the Team

The Staffing Recruiter is responsible for attracting, interviewing and hiring temporary employment talent to fill short term staffing needs for campus and medical center departments. Additional core responsibilities include: Providing performance feedback to temporary employees; advising and counseling client supervisors on the management of temporary employees.


What It Takes to be Successful

Job Description:

  • Independently responsible for the recruitment and hiring of temporary employees for work assignments at the UC Irvine campus and medical center (including affiliate clinical practice areas).
  • Performs talent acquisition search activities for temporary request for all UC Irvine title codes to match the needs of client department requestors.
  • Develops comprehensive talent acquisition strategies that include; researching the workforce availability of talent, defining the ideal candidate, awareness of diversity placement goals, talent sourcing and networking, strategic advertisements and development of interview and selection process.
  • Acquires talented candidates through various means such as cold calling, internet research and networking. Conducts internet searches for qualified candidates to present to hiring managers.
  • Independently conducts phone screening, computer assessments and in-person (or virtual) interviews in order to assess candidate's skills, knowledge and ability for fit to specific temporary request or for general usage in the temporary employment service.
  • Partners with the Staffing Coordinator role to receive additional phone screened applicants. Enlist assistance from the Staffing Coordinator for additional sourcing and advertising in order attract a stronger pool of applicants.
  • Independently decides to employ top candidates based on the candidate's phone screen, computer assessment, in-person or virtual interview, reference checks, clearance of background checks and health physicals and overall fit to UC Irvine and temporary employment. Communicates with candidates that are not offered employment.
  • Partners with the Disability and Rehabilitation Consultant to guide employees that need work accommodation. Assesses the employee's skills, knowledge and ability to match with open recruitments. Partners with the Disability and Rehabilitation Consultant and Labor and Employee Relations Consultant to place employees into new job opportunities

Required:

  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills.
  • Requires interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel.

Temporary Employment

This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. Interviewing and hiring is based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate's experience matches the assignment requirements. Certaintemporary assignments may require clearance of a health physical or require a valid California Driver's License for driving university vehicles.

The majority of our temporary positions are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. We also have occasional part-time, weekend, and evening hours available, depending on the assignment. Comprehensive benefits options are also available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
