Position Summary

The Community Outreach Coordinator serves as a liaison between Lakewood University and the local community by building partnerships, supporting outreach initiatives, coordinating donor communications, and promoting educational opportunities and resources. This position plays an important role in strengthening community relationships, increasing awareness of university programs, and supporting student and graduate success initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Community Partnerships & Outreach

  • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, businesses, and community partners including Veteran Centers, high schools, and local employers.
  • Distribute informational flyers and promotional materials throughout the community.
  • Coordinate outreach visits to high schools and community organizations to provide information about university programs and opportunities.
  • Attend and represent the university at local job fairs, career fairs, and community events.

Veteran & Community Resource Support

  • Research and organize veteran and community resources to maintain a resource library for students and prospective students.
  • Assist in connecting students with community-based support services and opportunities.

Donor & Community Relations

  • Prepare and mail donation request letters to businesses, organizations, and community supporters.
  • Write and mail thank-you letters and thank-you postcards to donors, supporters, and partners.
  • Coordinate mailing of returned donations and donor acknowledgements through platforms such as Zefty.
  • Print, prepare, and mail university newsletters and annual reports to donors, board members, and community stakeholders.

Graduate & Student Engagement

  • Contact university graduates to gather employment and career outcome information.
  • Maintain accurate records of graduate employment updates and community engagement activities.
  • Support university initiatives related to student success, workforce development, and alumni engagement.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain organized records of outreach contacts, donations, partnership activities, and event participation.
  • Assist with outreach planning, communication tracking, and reporting as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking with community members, organizations, and business representatives.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic computer and administrative skills including email, printing, mailing, and data tracking.
  • Friendly, professional, and community-minded attitude.
  • Experience in outreach, customer service, education, nonprofit work, or community engagement preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with veterans, educational institutions, or nonprofit organizations.
  • Ability to work independently and represent the university professionally in the community.
  • Knowledge of donor relations and community partnership building is a plus.
  • Comfortable making phone calls and communicating professionally with community members, graduates, businesses, and organizations.
  • Confident meeting new people and sharing information face-to-face about Lakewood University programs, opportunities, and community initiatives.

Work Environment:

  • This is an in office, Part time, non-exempt position.
  • Requires occasional evening or weekend availability for virtual events or student meetings.
  • Must maintain a professional and student-centered approach consistent with the mission and values of Lakewood University.
  • Approximately 20 hours of week
