They handle tasks such as troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining cybersecurity, and ensuring systems run smoothly from a remote location. These professionals often work for companies that outsource IT support or operate with distributed teams, using various online tools to communicate and resolve problems efficiently. Their work is crucial in today’s digital environment, as more businesses move operations online and require reliable remote IT support.

Job description

Information Technology (IT) Support & Systems Administrator

The Information Technology Support & Systems Administrator is a hands‑on technical role responsible for device provisioning, identity and access management, and day‑to‑day technical support for Welby Health's rapidly growing organization. In this position, you will own the full lifecycle of employee devices and access, from initial provisioning through offboarding, while keeping our virtual private network (VPN), remote‑access, and internal systems running smoothly.

As the Information Technology Support & Systems Administrator, you will serve as the primary point of escalation for technical issues ranging from account access to backend disruptions affecting patient‑facing tools. Furthermore, you will work closely with the Chief Technology Officer and when issues require it, extend your troubleshooting into infrastructure and backend systems, combining core IT support with foundational infrastructure diagnostics. Additionally, you will also ensure new hires and existing staff are provisioned securely and equipped to work without interruption.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provision new employee laptops (Windows and Mac) end to end, including JumpCloud enrollment, user binding, and application of security groups and policies
  • Create and manage JumpCloud user accounts and coordinate Google Workspace account creation and access
  • Confirm BitLocker/FileVault disk encryption is active on every device before it ships
  • Set up and verify remote access (Chrome Remote Desktop) and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) on every managed device
  • Troubleshoot login, activation, and account‑lockout issues for new and existing employees
  • Monitor and maintain shared infrastructure, including Virtual Private Network (VPN) servers, Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) and/or file‑exchange servers, and internal tools
  • Investigate and resolve backend and application issues affecting clinical staff, including reading application logs and correlating across services to identify root cause
  • Coordinate scoped fixes and deploys with engineering when an issue requires a code or infrastructure change, escalating appropriately
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, credentials, and runbooks for repeatable processes
  • Serve as the go‑to point of contact for Information Technology issues reported in Slack or via ticketing
  • Manage hardware inventory, shipping, and logistics for new-hire equipment
  • Handle offboarding, including account deactivation, device wipe and return, and access revocation
  • Draft clear, non‑technical guidance and documentation for end users
Required Qualifications
  • Approximately two (2) years in Information Technology support, administration, or device management
  • Hands‑on experience with a cloud identity/device management platform (JumpCloud, Intune, Jamf, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Virtual Private Network (VPN) technologies (WireGuard, OpenVPN)
  • Comfortable with both Windows and Mac environments
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts, with the ability to read logs and work a problem to root cause rather than a workaround
  • Ability to translate technical issues into practical terms for cross‑functional stakeholders
  • Capability to own a problem from identification through resolution with minimal oversight
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with basic cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or similar)
  • Exposure to healthcare or Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) conscious environments
  • Experience with Google Workspace administration
  • Scripting ability (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automating repetitive tasks
  • Experience with Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)/file‑exchange server administration
  • Familiarity with Slack, Monday.com, or similar work‑management tools
