IT Technician II
Lucent Group, Inc. an equal opportunity employer, located in Tampa, Florida is currently seeking to hire an experienced mid-level IT Technician to support all computer systems in an ITS operations environment.
This person must be a self-motivated technician with a strong technical foundation comfortable working across infrastructure support, scripting, and data systems. The ideal candidate takes initiative, communicates clearly across technical and non-technical staff, and is eager to grow their skills within a complex and evolving environment.

Duties
• Provides mid-level help desk support; troubleshoots and resolves computer, software, and network issues locally and remotely.
• Creates and maintains reports on help desk calls, system availability, and outstanding issues.
• Monitors and supports the proprietary traffic management software system and associated infrastructure to ensure 24/7 system availability.
• Supports VMware virtual environment - maintenance and troubleshooting of virtual machines and infrastructure.
• Maintains and enhances existing Python scripts and automation tools deployed across operations systems; identifies and develops new scripted solutions to fill operational information gaps.
• Writes and executes SQL queries and reports against operations databases; develops new queries and stored procedures on non-proprietary operational databases as directed.
• Supports Windows-based workstation and server environment including software deployment, patching, and configuration.
• Administers and troubleshoots Linux systems as needed within the operations environment.
• Performs hardware and software installations, upgrades, and integrations - including support for new hardware introduced during ongoing TMC modernization.
• Assists with specific directed network infrastructure tasks as assigned by network staff; not a primary network role.
• Maintains familiarity with legacy C# codebase for troubleshooting and knowledge continuity purposes.
• Conducts and verifies daily backups for all critical systems.
• Monitors video wall and partner video feeds to ensure continuous display availability.
• Inventories computer hardware monthly.
• Informally trains users in basic computer skills as needed.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by IT Manager, Operations Manager, or Project Manager.
Minimum Requirements
• College Degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in IT support, preferably within a 24/7 operations or critical infrastructure environment.
• CompTIA A+ certification required.
• Working knowledge of SQL - ability to execute existing queries and reports; aptitude and willingness to grow into query and schema development.
• Scripting experience - Python and/or PowerShell for automation, reporting, or systems administration tasks.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server and desktop environments.
• Familiarity with Linux systems administration.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document issues and solutions clearly.
• Ability to work on-call 24/7/365 as needed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
• VMware experience - administration of virtual machines in a VMware-based environment.
• CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
• SQL Server (T-SQL) experience
• Experience maintaining or enhancing Python-based tools in an operational environment.
• Familiarity with C# or .NET in a support/maintenance capacity.
• Experience in transportation, public safety, or other 24/7 critical operations environments.
Other Qualifications
• Genuine interest in technology and operational systems.
• Comfortable mentoring less-experienced technicians.
• Able to manage multiple concurrent priorities under pressure.
• Comfortable communicating technical concepts to non-technical staff and stakeholders.
