To thrive as a Virtual Information Technology Specialist, you need a strong background in IT fundamentals, networking, cybersecurity, and troubleshooting, often supported by a degree in computer science or related certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco CCNA. Familiarity with remote management tools, cloud platforms (such as AWS or Azure), and ticketing systems is typically required. • Manufacturing Operations Support: Ensure the high availability and performance of business-critical systems that support 24/7 manufacturing operations, minimizing downtime and providing effective troubleshooting for issues.
  • Project & Strategic Planning: Plan and coordinate major projects, such as system upgrades, hardware migrations and new software implementations, from concept to rollout.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and manage IT policies, security protocols, disaster recovery and business continuity plans, to ensure data integrity, security and compliance with industry regulations, including NIST800-171r2 and CMMC requirements.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the IT department and other department heads (e.g., Engineering, Finance, Operations), to identify technology needs and align IT initiatives with organizational goals.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a related IT role, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management position.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience with IBM i system administration and management, including proficiency in relevant programming languages (RPG, CL) and database design and management.
  • Industry Experience: Proven experience supporting IT in a manufacturing or similar industrial environment is highly preferred, understanding operational technologies and needs.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, analytical and decision-making abilities.
