Job description

Position Summary
The EVS Technician Level lV is responsible for providing a safe care environment for patients and staff (visitors, as appropriate to the setting) within a specialty area (surgical services/peri-operative suite, Cath lab, endoscopy, etc.) achieved by demonstrating the
principles of cleaning, disinfection, and quality assurance toward the reduction of harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff. While executing assigned tasks, the EVS Tech IV has contact with patients and, at time, family members. The role is
responsible for ensuring timely room turns related to patient throughput within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention. The EVS Technician IV, in accordance with organizational standards of quality, is an essential contributor to cleaning, disinfection, infection prevention, and patient experience.
Schedule: Nights Monday-Friday 8pm-4:30am
This would be helping with cleaning and disinfecting the OR at Winnie Palmer hospital

Essential Functions
• Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, using appropriate designated engagement techniques.
• Cleans and disinfects specialty units and equipment. Areas include but are not limited to Surgical Services, Labor Delivery, Critical Care, Angio, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health, and Burn Unit.
• Adheres to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control standards while promoting a culture of safety.
• Maintains all appropriate logs and check lists/sheets accurately and current.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment and assigned areas according to procedures, policies, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Demonstrates understanding of the training and education related to evidence-based recommendations in accordance with the Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE), Association for Professional in Infection Control (APIC), Association for Peri-Operative Nurses (AORN), CDC, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory bodies.
• Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiatives to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics.
• Maintains supplies and equipment by properly stocking and restocking environmental services cart in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Removes waste and transports it to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste streams (i.e., regulated medical, recycled, solid, and hazardous).
• Operates UV disinfection machine as needed or according to policy.
• Follows all environmental and infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and process, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
• Reports unsafe situations and turns in Engineering Service Requests for repair.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
• Practices critical thinking skills to include prioritization of duties and immediate needs/requests (Stat cleans).
• Identifies and utilizes appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through.
• Demonstrates knowledge of facility safety requirements.
• Demonstrates the ability to operate all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.
• Assists in onboarding new Environmental Services Technicians I, II, III and IVs as requested.
• Completes other tasks assigned by EVS leadership.
Qualifications
Education/Training
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Trained on perioperative room equipment.
• Trained on perioperative room set-up.
Licensure/Certification
• Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) preferred.
Experience
Four (4) years of experience in healthcare support services, EVS, hospitality, or a related field.
