Job description

The Infection Prevention Associate supports the Infection Prevention team by assisting with surveillance systems, data abstraction, national and internal reporting, and coordination of infection prevention activities. This role collaborates with hospital staff to implement evidence-based practices, improve patient outcomes, and ensure compliance with infection prevention standards. Responsibilities include data analysis, presentation preparedness, process improvement initiatives, and providing administrative and technical support to Infection Preventionists. The position requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, as well as proficiency in computer applications.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with infection surveillance activities, including data collection and abstraction from electronic systems. 
  • Support Infection Preventionists in analyzing infection trends and preparing reports for leadership and regulatory compliance. 
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to reduce infection risks and improve patient safety. 
  • Coordinate communication and documentation related to infection prevention programs. 
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting of infection-related data. 
  • Collaborate with hospital departments to implement evidence-based infection prevention practices. 
  • Provide administrative support for infection prevention meetings, audits, and training sessions. 
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with infection control policies and regulatory standards. 
  • Respond to inquiries from staff and provide resources related to infection prevention. 
  • Uphold confidentiality and adhere to organizational mission, vision, and values while supporting quality initiatives. 
  • Will be responsible for national reporting of data.  
  • Bachelor's Degree Healthcare Sciences or other related field. 
  • Two (2) year of experience in related field. Internship and fellowship experience may be counted towards years of experience crediting or masters in related field with no experience. 
  • Passing federal background check is required to accommodate NHSN reporting requirements.
