Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Ansible to streamline administrative tasks.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices for Azure databases.
  • Provision and configure Azure database services, including SQL Database, SQL MI, and PostgreSQL.
  • Perform regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience with automating infrastructure setup and application deployment using best practices of CI/CD with Ansible, GitHub Actions, and Terraform
  • 5+ years of experience in migrating on-prem databases to Azure Cloud
  • 7+ years of experience setting up and configuring Microsoft Azure Services
  • 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Cloud Networking and Cloud Security
  • 7+ years of experience Database High Availability, Backup and Restore/Recovery
  • 5 + years of experience with performance tuning and optimization
  • Familiarity with process improvement, automation, monitoring and programming/scripting languages
  • Cloud Architecture, Cloud Technologies, Cloud Services, Infrastructure as Code with Azure experience with Terraform
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities to support 24x7 operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a database administrator, with a focus on Azure cloud databases.
  • Oracle to SQL server database conversion skills desired.
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI).
  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, object-oriented technology, data warehousing, and relational database engines.
  • Advanced proficiency in analytical, project planning, negotiating, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and oral).

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree

Target Salary Range

Compensation for roles at Synergy is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the requirements of the role; level of experience; education and certifications; the individual’s combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities; as well as alignment with market data, federal and state laws, and other business and contract considerations. The estimated pay range for this position is: $134,000 – $192,000. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and represent just one component of Synergy’s total compensation package for employees.
