The Heibar Indiana Production Manager (PM) will help with the start-up of a new location for Heibar, a division of Clayton Homes and will play a critical role in hiring, establishing operating procedures, ensuring training occurs for a new team, and for helping to coordinate the project on the ground. The Heibar team manufactures site-built construction components like roof and floor trusses, and wall panels. This position and location will provide support to our site-built partner Arbor Homes, and in this location, we will manufacture roof and floor trusses initially, and with expansion will manufacture wall panels in the future. As the site starts up, the PM will help coordinate activities at the site, including work alongside department managers to ensure coordination in the effort to reach the organization's goals.

Reporting Relationships

The Production Manager is responsible for supervising all phases of the manufacturing process of Heibar Indiana and will report directly to the General Manager and will work closely with the Operations Team.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to lead large groups of people and focus on developing a culture of accountability working as a team
  • Strict adherence and compliance with quality assurance requirements.
  • Be safety minded and ability to put Safety 1st - must adhere to strict safety rules and guidelines
  • Reviewing production performance and identifying training opportunities of production personnel as necessary
  • Direct teams effectively in each department to ensure timelines and production priorities are met
  • Provide sound leadership, coaching, mentoring, and direction for personnel development and employee engagement
  • Improve production processes to improve overall quality, reduce lead-times, and lower
  • costs of operations by utilizing Lean Manufacturing methods, 5S, Kaizen, etc. applications where necessary
  • Track and communicate to the Team Members and Senior Leadership the KPIs on a daily basis as it pertains to production
  • Review the P&L statement and make operational changes leading to positive impacts on financials
  • Engage daily with team members, communicating the prior day's production and current day's goals
  • Ensures products meet or exceed internal and external customer quality standards (MOD Building codes) and required delivery schedules are met.
  • Creates strategies to reduce labor cost, reduce scrap, and ensures a product free of defects.

  • Must be detail-oriented and can multi-task effectively
  • Ability to read and understand building specifications greatly desired
  • Demonstrated adherence to safety protocols
  • Ability to adapt quickly and make sound decisions in a changing, fast-paced work environment

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering

Professional Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years relevant leadership experience
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing Principals preferred
  • Previous construction experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in manufactured housing is greatly desired
  • Working knowledge of P&L statements
  • Experience with Quality Programs and Root Cause Analysis - i.e. ISO9001, 8D 5 Why
  • Experience in high-speed manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to adapt quickly and make sound decisions in a changing, fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and / or pulling
  • Work environment is not temperature controlled and may result in exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing, up to 4 hours at a time
