Basic Job Functions:

This entry-level position is responsible for numerous production related duties that include but are not limited to moving and organizing materials, following production schedules, and prepping, galvanizing, and finishing materials. This position will work closely with the Production Supervisor(s) and Leads to ensure an organized and efficient flow of materials through the plant while meeting established daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals. The Racking and Finishing teammates are responsible for hanging/ removing product from fixtures and correcting any imperfections caused during the galvanizing process.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Hanging and prepping materials for the galvanizing process in a safe and organized manner
  • Operating overhead cranes and/or forklifts as necessary
  • File or grind excess zinc, ash or drip marks from ends of product, deburr and clean threads on steel products that are created by the hot dipping process.
  • Follow proper repair procedures of uncoated areas (how to grind & how to apply paint)
  • Use zinc-based alloys (hot stick), paints containing zinc dust and sprayed zinc (metallizing) on steel products.
  • Cleaning, packaging, and finishing materials after the galvanizing process is complete.
  • Tracking all materials that are on site, both company stock and customer materials

  • Proven commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule to accommodate workload.
  • Maintain professionalism, open communication, and display behaviors that help develop the team.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Safety: Must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety practices, policies, procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
  • Computers and Electronics: Proficiency in utilizing computer resources to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Problem Solving & Judgment/Decision Making: Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options in order to choose the most appropriate solution.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work: Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team.
  • Teamwork: Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal.
Preferences:
  • At least one year experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating mobile equipment.
