Description
Reporting directly to TMRW Sports' Chief Technology Officer, and serving as a key leadership team member to the SVP, Operations, Flag Football, the VP, Technology, Flag Football will define and execute the end-to-end technology strategy for our upcoming flag football league, translating concept into a game-ready, scalable technology foundation that powers competition, fan engagement, and league operations from launch through future seasons.
This leader is both visionary and hands-on, owning the technology lifecycle across discovery and architecture, build and lab testing, integration and security, and game-day readiness. They will partner closely with product, engineering, operations, and marketing teams, as well as external vendors, to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions while maintaining architectural integrity, cross TMRW Sports alignment, and a high bar for quality.
The VP, Technology, Flag Football will establish governance for quality, security, privacy, and scalability across all implementations, and will build a high-performing technology function leveraging an integrated set of vendor partner solutions. This role requires extensive travel during build phases and throughout the season.
Responsibilities:
Technology Strategy, Architecture & Delivery
  • Own the end-to-end technology lifecycle for the flag football league, from solution design through build, lab testing, integration, and launch.
  • Deliver the target architecture and technology roadmap[AM1] [WS2] across competition systems, fan-facing experiences, and operational platforms to enable a scalable, extensible foundation.
  • Establish program plans, milestones, and release readiness criteria to ensure on-time delivery and game-day reliability.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Integration
  • Partner with product, engineering, operations, and marketing leaders to translate business objectives into prioritized technology initiatives and clear requirements.
  • Lead end-to-end integration planning across systems (e.g., competition workflows, content/data pipelines, identity/access, and operations tooling) to deliver seamless experiences for athletes, teams, staff, and fans.
  • Own launch readiness across stakeholders, including runbooks, incident response, and leading the day-of-competition technology operating model.
  • Communicate status, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions to executive leadership with clarity and urgency in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
  • Drive alignment with cross-TMRW Sports architectures leveraging common solutions where appropriate for scale and expediency.

Team Leadership, Vendors & Governance
  • Build and lead a high-performing technology team.
  • Drive vendor integration, contracting support, and day-to-day vendor management to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery while maintaining architectural integrity.
  • Establish and enforce standards for quality, security, privacy, and scalability; ensure solutions meet governance requirements prior to launch.
  • Own technical risk management, including testing strategy, resilience planning, and post-launch monitoring and continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in sports technology development.
  • Background leading complex systems integration programs with multiple vendors and internal teams (e.g., identity, data, mobile/web, venue/competition operations).
  • Hands-on technical fluency in modern cloud architecture, security best practices, and scalable platform design.
  • Experience building teams and delivery processes in a startup or zero-to-one environment.

Preferred:
  • Experience launching and operating technology for live events, sports, media, or other high-availability environments where reliability on a fixed schedule is critical.
  • Prior experience with American Football leagues a plus.

You'll be successful if you:
  • Are very hands on when needed, empowering when not, and know instinctively when to switch between the two.
  • Are naturally optimistic and infect others with your optimism to collectively achieve great outcomes.
  • Are collaborative with all stakeholders.
  • Build a solid plan, often without all the necessary data, and lead a cross-discipline team to achieve the goal.
  • Pivot from the plan when required to secure the overall outcome.
  • Change your mind when new information is discovered.
  • Inspire those around you to achieve greatness.
  • Build team morale and maintain it even when the going gets tough.
