Job description

Position Summary
MBX Biosciences is seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President of Information Technology (IT) to lead the company's technology strategy, infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, data governance, and digital innovation initiatives. Reporting to our Chief Financial Officer, the VP of IT will be responsible for developing and executing an enterprise-wide IT strategy that supports MBX's research, clinical, commercial, and corporate business objectives. As MBX advances toward and through commercialization, this leader will bring experience supporting commercial organizations, including sales, marketing, market access, and patient services functions.
This role will also champion the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, and digital transformation solutions that improve productivity, decision-making, and business outcomes. The VP of IT will build, develop, and lead a high-performing IT organization while overseeing technology operations across MBX's hubs and remote workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute MBX's enterprise IT vision, roadmap, and long-term technology strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team capable of supporting MBX's evolving business needs.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify technology opportunities that enhance business performance and support organizational growth.
  • Lead the design and evolution of scalable IT architecture, systems, infrastructure, and platforms that support research, development, clinical operations, commercial activities, and corporate functions.
  • Establish technology governance, policies, standards, and operating models across the organization.

Commercial & Business Enablement
  • Support commercial readiness and ongoing commercial operations through the implementation and optimization of technology solutions for sales, marketing, market access, patient support, and customer engagement.
  • Collaborate with commercial leadership to ensure systems effectively support business objectives, customer relationships, data analytics, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with functional leaders to evaluate, prioritize, and implement technology investments that drive business value.

Artificial Intelligence & Digital Innovation
  • Develop and lead MBX's artificial intelligence strategy, identifying opportunities to leverage AI, automation, machine learning, and advanced analytics across the enterprise.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve operational effectiveness, decision-making, and employee productivity.
  • Establish responsible AI governance practices, ensuring compliance, security, and ethical use of AI-enabled solutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

IT Operations & Infrastructure
  • Oversee enterprise applications, cloud services, infrastructure, network operations, service delivery, end-user support, and cybersecurity programs.
  • Ensure high levels of system availability, reliability, security, and performance.
  • Lead disaster recovery, business continuity, and risk management initiatives.
  • Manage technology vendors, service providers, and strategic partnerships.

Cybersecurity, Compliance & Data Governance
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy and risk management framework.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and data privacy regulations.
  • Oversee data governance, data integrity, and information management practices.
  • Develop and monitor security policies, controls, and employee awareness programs.

Workforce & Site Support
  • Oversee technology operations, infrastructure, and user support across MBX's two hub locations and remote workforce.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration, connectivity, security, and user experience across all work environments.
  • Support workplace technology initiatives that enable flexible and efficient ways of working.

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including senior-level leadership roles.
  • Experience developing and executing enterprise IT strategies within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, or highly regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting organizations through commercial growth and commercialization activities.
  • Proven success leading enterprise technology architecture, infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience building, leading, and scaling high-performing IT teams.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, enterprise applications, data management, cybersecurity frameworks, and modern IT operating models.
  • Experience overseeing multi-site operations and supporting distributed and remote workforces.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex vendor relationships and technology budgets.
  • Experience supporting pre-commercial, commercial-stage, or rapidly growing biotechnology organizations.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Travel
You will be expected to travel periodically based on the needs of the business to the extent requested by the Company, including attendance at Together Weeks, Together Days, and functional meetings as requested by the Company.
