Job description

Ross Downing Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Mobile is seeking an experienced Used Car Sales Manager to lead our pre-owned vehicle sales operations. This role is responsible for driving used vehicle sales, maximizing gross profit, managing inventory turn and aging, and developing a high-performing sales team while delivering a best-in-class customer experience.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in used car operations, inventory management, pricing strategy, and dealership KPIs, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume dealership environment.
What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
Sales Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and motivate the used car sales team to achieve sales, gross, and CSI targets
  • Conduct daily sales meetings, one-on-one coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Set expectations around lead handling, customer follow-up, and closing efficiency

Used Vehicle Strategy & Performance
  • Manage used vehicle sales performance, including volume, front-end gross, and turn rate
  • Analyze market data, online pricing, and competitor activity to ensure competitive positioning
  • Work with leadership to establish sales goals and performance benchmarks

Inventory, Merchandising & Pricing
  • Oversee used vehicle inventory, including acquisition strategy, pricing, merchandising, and aging
  • Monitor recon timelines and coordinate with service to improve speed to market
  • Ensure vehicles are merchandised effectively online with competitive pricing and photos

Customer Experience & CSI
  • Maintain a customer-centric culture focused on transparency and trust
  • Handle customer escalations professionally and ensure positive resolutions
  • Drive repeat and referral business through exceptional customer satisfaction

Process, Compliance & Technology
  • Ensure compliance with dealership policies, processes, and lender requirements
  • Utilize CRM and DMS systems to track performance and manage sales pipelines
  • Support desking, structuring deals, and lender communications as needed

What We're Looking For (Qualifications)
  • 3-5+ years of automotive sales management experience, with a strong focus on used vehicles
  • Proven success managing used car inventory, pricing, and profitability
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team-development skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities
  • Working knowledge of dealership operations, finance, and inventory metrics
  • Experience with DMS and CRM platforms (Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, VinSolutions, DealerSocket, etc.)
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, performance-driven dealership
  • High standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
