Unit Secretary, Telemetry

At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $16.23 โ€“ $24.12 excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.

Position Summary: Unit Secretary, Telemetry, Full-time Days 7 am to 3:30 pm, Methuen campus

Responsible for performing a variety of administrative, computer, and supply management tasks to ensure efficient unit operations. Serves as a key point of contact for written and verbal communication between unit staff, physicians, ancillary services, patients, visitors, and families, ensuring timely and accurate information flow.

Responsibilities:

  • Answers unit telephone calls promptly and courteously; accurately relay messages to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates schedule of procedures and diagnostic tests; obtains and files results in patient charts in accordance with established protocols.
  • Facilitates physician consultations as required.
  • Prepares patient charts for admission and organizes charts for discharge, ensuring documentation complies with Health Information System standards.
  • Assists with patient transport arrangements and assigns rooms for cleaning as needed.
  • Delivers specimens to the laboratory in a timely and secure manner.
  • Procures necessary supplies from internal departments such as Materials Management.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and secure environment to support efficient and safe operation of the nursing unit.
  • Collaborates as an active and engaged member of the healthcare team to promote quality patient care.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous two years' experience as a unit technician or related duties preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: BLS required.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of health care terminology
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn multiple health care-related computer systems
