Position Summary

We are seeking a Maintenance Unit Supervisor to join our Ingot Department at Davenport Works. This leadership role is responsible for supervising union maintenance crews, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations through technical guidance, hands-on troubleshooting, and effective team management. The position rotates between 12-hour day and night shifts and plays a key role in fostering a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise mechanical craft personnel within the Ingot department.

  • Coordinate and execute both planned and reactive maintenance activities.

  • Lead safety initiatives including job-specific reviews and individual discussions.

  • Assign and prioritize work based on operational urgency and crew availability.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, cost, and delivery metrics.

  • Apply root cause analysis and rapid problem-solving techniques to maintenance issues.

  • Serve as a resource for technical maintenance support to craft and production teams.

  • Navigate interpersonal dynamics and motivate unionized team members to achieve results.


Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

  • At least 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience with direct reports.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized or manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles (ABS/TPM/Six Sigma).

  • Understanding of HR/IR policies, labor agreements, and workplace compliance practices.
