Overview

The Transportation Director will have operational responsibility for a portion of the business and plan, direct, and oversee transportation projects within Ardurra’s Rocky Mountain Region Transportation Practice. You will be responsible for overall operations and profit and loss, business development, proposal development, project management, and oversight for various public agency projects. This is an exceptional opportunity to be involved with large transportation projects for our key clients. Qualified applicants will be able to demonstrate an established career in the transportation industry and have a successful track record with the delivery of large transportation projects. The objective of the position is to lead, pursue, develop, and execute major projects required to deliver client programs within established and agreed budgets and schedules. You will also provide technical expertise to ensure that projects are delivered on budget, on schedule, and the technical and quality standards meet all expectations. In addition to your project responsibilities, you will provide technical solutions and advice, mentoring and development to other engineers. Position is available out of Phoenix AZ, Salt Lake City UT or Las Vegas NV.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Create and drive a strategic pursuit plan for major transportation projects in the Rocky Mountain Region, ensuring effective execution that results in winning key contracts.
  • Establish relationships and interact with major clients
  • Staff and manage multidisciplinary transportation project teams.
  • A desire to work with external contractors/consultants, Ardurra’s other divisions/regions and interact directly with major clients.
  • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients by promoting Ardurra’s values both internally and externally.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering + 15 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer License
  • Previous experience supporting Civile Engineering design projects.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience leading managers and teams
  • Strong understanding of Transportation markets, clients, and delivery models, including Department of Transportations.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect strategy to execution.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25 percent of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of local municipal and agencies standards and requirements.
  • Ability to prepare/review technical reports, specifications, cost estimates and engineering studies.
  • Ability to perform effective Quality Control (QC) for plans, estimates, technical reports, and studies.
  • Experience in planning, project development, scheduling, supervising, and managing civil engineering project development team’s preparation of concept plans, engineering reports, specifications, and opinions of probable costs.
  • Demonstrate evidence of successful interaction with clients on resolution of technical and management issues.
  • Understanding of engineering services contract development and management to include some understanding of budget preparation, scopes and fees, billing rates, job codes, utilization, and effective multipliers.
  • Ability to interpret legal documents related to engineering.
  • Skilled in utilizing MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Project) and other software such as Primavera.
  • Ability to guide, direct, and coordinate with multiple professionals involved in infrastructure projects and to manage the performance of various personnel in other departments.
  • Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills, including the ability to present to clients at meetings, for proposals, and the public.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, time management and organizational skills.
