Lake Mountain School District is currently hiring for the position of The Fleet Manager / System Specialist. This position supports the Director of Transportation by managing fleet operations, transportation technology systems, and maintenance programs to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of students. This position serves as the primary liaison between transportation leadership, maintenance personnel, vendors, and district stakeholders. Responsibilities include overseeing fleet maintenance schedules, vehicle replacement planning, transportation technology systems, regulatory compliance, and operational support while providing leadership and direction to maintenance and support staff.

Essential Functions 

• Assists the Director of Transportation in planning, coordinating, and evaluating fleet operations, transportation technology systems, and department initiatives.
• Manages the district's transportation fleet, including preventive maintenance programs, vehicle inspections, repair schedules, warranty services, and vehicle replacement planning.
• Supervises and coordinates maintenance personnel and support staff to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with district standards.
• Serves as the liaison between mechanics, transportation staff, vendors, and district administration to facilitate communication and operational effectiveness.
• Oversees transportation technology systems, including GPS tracking, onboard cameras, routing software, radio communications, tablets, and student transportation management systems.
• Coordinates the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement of transportation technology equipment and ensures system reliability and data accuracy.
• Monitors compliance with federal, state, and district transportation regulations, safety requirements, maintenance standards, and inspection programs.
• Assists with accident investigations, vehicle damage assessments, insurance claims, and corrective action planning.
• Maintains fleet records, maintenance documentation, technology inventories, regulatory reports, and operational data.
• Monitors fleet expenditures, maintenance budgets, parts inventories, and vendor services to ensure fiscal responsibility and efficient resource utilization.
• Researches and recommends improvements related to fleet management, transportation technology, operational procedures, and long-range replacement planning.
• Provides training and technical support to transportation staff regarding transportation systems, communication equipment, and operational procedures.
• Responds to transportation emergencies, vehicle breakdowns, and after-hours operational concerns as needed.
• Assists with hiring, training, evaluating, and supporting transportation and maintenance personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience 

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in fleet management, transportation operations, maintenance supervision, transportation technology systems, or a related field.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• School district transportation experience preferred. 

Education 

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate Degree in Transportation Management, Business Administration, Information Technology, Fleet Management, Automotive/Diesel Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. 

Required 

• Valid Driver's License
• Criminal Background Clearance
• Drug Testing Clearance 

Preferred

• Commercial Driver License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
• Transportation technology or fleet management certifications
