Associate Vice President - Transportation | Baton Rouge, LA | Full Time

Buchart Horn is seeking an accomplished Associate Vice President – Transportation to help lead our Transportation Business Unit. This is a strategic, senior-level role focused on civil and transportation engineering project delivery, operations, staff development, and business growth. If you’re a licensed Professional Engineer with deep experience in transportation engineering and a passion for leadership, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do:

As Associate Vice President, you’ll support the Vice President in achieving the group’s sales, revenue, and operational goals while ensuring the technical quality and financial performance of transportation design projects. You’ll also help guide the Business Unit’s strategy, mentor staff, and maintain strong client relationships.

  • Provide leadership across transportation engineering projects, ensuring quality, profitability, and compliance with contract requirements
  • Assist in managing day-to-day operations of the Business Unit, including staffing, resource planning, and performance reviews
  • Contribute to annual business planning, sales forecasting, and budgeting in alignment with corporate objectives
  • Supervise and mentor project managers, engineers, and support staff to drive high-performance project delivery
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and scopes; assist with resource allocation and technical oversight as needed
  • Participate in proposal preparation, fee development, contract negotiation, and client presentations
  • Support and implement Business Unit’s policies and initiatives, including performance management and process improvements
  • Strengthen relationships with existing clients and identify new business opportunities through networking and outreach
  • Collaborate with other corporate leaders on multi-disciplinary pursuits and project coordination
  • Oversee project reviews, QA/QC standards, and technical excellence in all phases of design and delivery
  • Maintain current knowledge of transportation engineering practices, technologies, and regulatory requirements
  • Represent Buchart Horn at client meetings, industry events, and professional conferences

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Prior leadership or management experience in an engineering consulting environment
  • Strong understanding of DOT standards, transportation funding, and infrastructure development process
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff, budgets, and technical performance across multiple active projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead client relationships, strategic initiatives, and business development efforts
