Support Engineering Engineer Manager (Support Engineering Eng Mgmt)

The Government Training Engineering (GTE) organization is seeking an experienced and highly motivated leader to join our Courseware Design & Instruction (CD&I) team. The First Line Leader (FLL) will be responsible for one or more major platforms teams within the Air Dominance supporting contracts with the Navy (F-18, T45, MQ25), Air Force (F-15, T-7A, NGAS), but you may be asked to support the Navy and Air Force Mobility, Bombers and Surveillance or the Army and Air Force Vertical Lift Platforms (Domestic / International customers (as applicable).

In this role, you will lead a team of experienced pilots and maintainers of high-performance 4th and 5th generation fighter aircraft to design and develop engaging courses, curricula, and training modules. A typical team size would consist of ~10-20 employees with various domain expertise, such as Pilots, WSSO's Maintenance SMEs, Instructional System Designers, Computer Based Training Programmers, and Graphics Artists/Animators.

The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at the St. Louis, MO location, and secondary locations at other major Boeing facilities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary courseware team responsible for design, development, validation, and delivery of training products that meet contractual requirements and customer expectations.
  • Oversee project performance, including cost, quality, and schedule reporting; apply Earned Value and other program control practices to maintain program baselines.
  • Translate contractual Statements of Work (SOW) and requirements into executable plans, schedules, ROMs, RFP responses, and final pricing (including material costs).
  • Maintain integrated internal/external schedules to support timely design, development, and implementation of courseware deliverables.
  • Track and mitigate Risks, Issues, and Opportunities (RIO); ensure compliance with Boeing policies, standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Manage supplier relationships and provide oversight for third-party contributions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes and tools; capture and apply lessons learned and best practices across functional disciplines.
  • Provide workforce leadership: onboarding, performance management, coaching, career development, and training/certification planning.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level briefings and status updates to senior leadership and external customers.
  • Contribute to business growth: support IRAD initiatives and develop content for new business proposals.
  • Coordinate with core functional disciplines to align technical strategies and ensure efficient execution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience preparing senior leadership briefings.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster effective business relationships across stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functionalproject/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
  • Experience designing, developing, and delivering training solutions for Defense customers (USG and FMS).
  • 5+ years of experience translatingbusiness requirements into technical specifications.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and working with senior leadership
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and performing supplier technology evaluations
  • Experience with schedule and budget management, stakeholder communication, as well as understanding of execution of program planning to ensure cost, schedule and requirements are met.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Experience using Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) and processes and methods .

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree plus typically 10+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, learning-path development, and instructional systems design.
  • Experience with data analytics, critical thinking, and structured problem solving (e.g., Boeing Problem Solving Model).
  • Track record of identifying and implementing process and tool improvements to enhance training outcomes.
  • Prior experience supporting high-visibility projects for senior leadership and customers.
