As a Technical Training Developer, you'll be responsible for the design, development, revision, and continuous improvement of technical training materials supporting StandardAero's operational and maintenance environments. This role will develop high-quality Instructor-Led Training (ILT), Computer-Based Training (CBT), assessments, instructor guides, and supporting learning materials aligned to enterprise Technical Training standards.

This position requires a strong understanding of adult learning methodologies, instructional systems design principles, technical training development, and modern learning technologies. The ideal candidate understands the unique challenges associated with developing technical and performance-based training within industrial, manufacturing, aviation, or maintenance environments.

Locations: Scottsdale, AZ, San Antonio, TX, Dallas, TX, Cincinnati, OH, Maryville, TN, or Kansas City, MO preferred

What you'll do:

  • Design, develop, revise, and maintain technical training materials across multiple delivery formats, including instructor-led training, web-based training, practical exercises, assessments, instructor guides, learner materials, job aids, and related courseware.
  • Apply adult learning principles, instructional systems design methodologies, and models such as ADDIE to analyze training needs, structure learning solutions, and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Create engaging, performance-focused learning experiences using measurable learning objectives, aligned assessments, scenario-based activities, interactive exercises, graphics, animations, and technical illustrations.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to gather, organize, validate, and translate complex technical information into clear, instructionally sound training content.
  • Develop standardized technical training materials that support knowledge transfer, learner engagement, retention, operational readiness, and enterprise-wide or global deployment.
  • Ensure all training deliverables meet established branding, documentation, revision control, instructional quality, and enterprise Technical Training design standards.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance instructional quality, learner experience, training consistency, and overall training effectiveness.
     

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, Instructional Technology, Organizational Development, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years designing training materials related to operations, maintenance, military, or has relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of adult learning, cognitive load, instructional design, and performance-based training principles.
  • Experience using ADDIE, SAM, or similar instructional design models.
  • Proficiency with Articulate Storyline/Rise, Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, and LMS platforms.
  • Experience creating courseware, assessments, knowledge checks, activities, instructor guides, and technical training materials.
  • Strong visual design, communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Ability to develop training that supports technical accuracy, retention, operational performance, and real-world application.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (10%)

Preferred Characteristics: 

  • Technical or maintenance industry background preferred
  • Experience developing technical skills, operational readiness, maintenance, or performance-based qualification training.
  • Experience working with SMEs in highly technical environments.
  • Familiarity with competency-based training and qualification frameworks.
  • Experience developing training for regulatory, operational, compliance-driven, highly regulated, or operationally sensitive environments.
