Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. 

This driver role is an over-the-road position, responsible for operating commercial motor vehicle tractors and trailers in compliance with FMCSA regulations to transport goods on public highways and company property. They are also responsible for moving, stacking, and unloading all forms of C.H.I. doors and products at their destinations, including C.H.I. service centers and dealer locations. This is a physically demanding position which will involve lifting 80+ pounds in a unique trailer environment. This could include using forklifts, jacks, carts, racks, pallets, moving boxes, packages, or other support components. All runs originate and terminate in Arthur, Illinois, so residing in the area is ideal, but not required.

Eligible candidates will:

  • Be at least 21 years of age 
  • Possess a validCDL-A license 
  • Possess a valid DOT Medical Card or be eligible to receive one prior to hire  
Compensation

First-year drivers earn a minimum of $100,000. Drivers' pay is dependent upon varying factors such as mileage, stops, etc. 

CDL-A Driver Pay Information:

  • Driver referral bonus
  • Pay for ALL miles driven
  • Pay per stop for all live loads/unloads
  • Detention pay
  • Per diem
  • Hourly pay for miscellaneous work
  • Paid safety training
  • Weekly home time
  • Set schedule

Profit-Sharing

10% of Nucor's pre-tax earnings are contributed to the Profit Sharing Plan annually and distributed to all eligible teammates. A large portion is deposited into your profit-sharing account, and a smaller portion is distributed in cash. Current 6-year average = 19.88% of your eligible earnings. Eligible earnings include regular pay, overtime, and bonus.
