Job description

The Branch Banking Management Trainee participates in a comprehensive development program designed to prepare them for a branch management role. Upon successful completion, trainees will be equipped to perform sales, service, and operational functions in a branch environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the management of an assigned portfolio of High-Value Clients (HVC) to strengthen and maintain customer relationships.

  • Identifying customer banking needs and recommending appropriate products and services.

  • Referring customers to specialists when necessary.

  • Meeting operational, cross-sale, and referral goals.

  • Supporting the branch management team with coaching and development activities.

  • Opening a full range of consumer and business deposit and loan products.

  • Accepting and closing secured and unsecured consumer and scored business loans, as well as personal lines of credit.

  • Achieving certification to accept and close home equity lines of credit and loans.

Career Path and Development

The Branch Banking Management Trainee is hired, trained, and mentored with the goal of advancing to a Universal Banker III or Assistant Manager role. The training program is designed to be completed within 18 to 30 months, based on individual progress and the availability of placement opportunities.

Trainees will work on complex assignments, often taking on leadership responsibilities. The role demands sound judgment, adaptability, and initiative to navigate challenges and support branch success.

Minimum Qualifications:

UB I Experience Requirements:

  • 1+ year(s) of demonstrated success in sales and customer service.
  • 1+ year(s) of branch operations experience or successful completion of teller and new account certification within 6 months of hire.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

UB II Experience Requirements:

  • 2+ years of branch/bank operations experience and sales of retail financial products.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience explaining credit products, accepting/closing consumer and business loan applications.
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree from an accredited university. Relevant work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to move and lift items up to 20lbs and perform other light physical work.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including phone, personal computer, copier, etc.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers.
  • Must also be able to hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
  • Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
  • Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods of time.
  • Must also be able to adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
