Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. The Scheduling Coordinator may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

  • Make appointments for patients in office and on the phone to see the doctors, testing and to schedule procedures in the hospital and at other facilities. Combined cases are scheduled at the same time of tumor removal with plastic surgeon.

  • Works closely with other departments in the hospital including but not limited to Nurse navigation, Geneticists, Oncology, Surgery scheduling, Plastic Surgery and Radiology.

  • Updates medical record accordingly.

  • Clear and concise communication regarding surgical scheduling is very important- organizational skill is key.

  • Perform other general office assignments.

  • Daily scanning of patient records into OnBase

  • Obtain appropriate authorization through the patient's insurance company.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • One to three years clerical experience in a physician office preferred.

  • Computer knowledge such as Medical Office and Scheduling Applications preferred.
