The Resident Life Assistant (RLA) builds supportive relationships with Merci's Refuge (MR) residents while sharing the overnight and/or weekend coverage responsibilities with other volunteer team members. The RLA may also help facilitate evening program activities and hold residents accountable to house rules. This is currently a temporary position for 16 shifts over the next couple of months, totalling 160 hours.

Remote Work Expectations: The Resident Life Assistant position is not a remote position and is expected to work all hours on location. Scheduled donor meetings, speaking engagements or running errands for the center is not considered remote work.
Qualifications: Applicant should have the following qualifications:
- Demonstrate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in actions and attitudes, showing evidence of spiritual maturity.
- Exhibits a strong commitment and dedication to the Gospel and to the sanctity of human life, affirming life and never referring or advising a woman to have an abortion.
- Display a readiness and willingness to share the Gospel in word and deed, engaging in spiritual conversations and discipleship opportunities.
- Provide spiritual leadership, discipleship, encouragement and direction for staff, volunteers and clients.
- Agree with and uphold the LAPRC Mission, as well as all corporate statements and policies of LAPRC and MR.
- Self-motivated; ability to carry out responsibilities independently.
- Demonstrate the corporate values of Faith, Integrity, Excellence, Respect, and Compassion.
- A minimum of a high school education or GED is required. Experience in Human Services, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Family Services, Christian Ministry, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with teenage or young adult women in a group setting preferred
- Experience in planning and facilitating a class or support group preferred
- Able to efficiently use computers and email.
- Valid driver's license and insurability.
Major Responsibilities:
Resident Life
- Spend the night at MR on assigned evenings and attend to resident needs until shift is over or emergency situations have been properly addressed.
- Build rapport and supportive relationships with residents.
- Model healthy behaviors, interpersonal interactions and Christian values.
- Provide accountability to residents for following rules.
Health and Safety
- Follow all emergency safety procedures regarding weather, security and resident physical or psychological emergencies. Properly record compliance of safety procedures and all unusual incidences.
- Ensure the facility is locked before lights out.
- Provide transportation if needed.
General Administrative Responsibilities
- Adhere to all of the Policies and Procedures of LAPRC and MR.
- Maintain a clean and organized living space.
- Other duties as assigned.
