Northwestern University is seeking a temporary Program Assistant.
Temporary Job Description:
The Program Assistant supports the education mission of Science in Society (SiS), a Northwestern University research center dedicated to supporting high-needs, high-potential communities. As part of the Science in Society team, this position manages community-based STEM initiatives in the Chicagoland area, including the award-winning Science Club after school mentoring program and a summer science camp in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago.
The position directly supports SiS-led after school programming during the academic year and summer camp programs in Uptown and Little Village. Responsibilities include supervising program implementation at community sites, coordinating with community partners on administrative and strategic aspects of program implementation, and ensuring effective, high-quality program delivery. The Program Assistant also supports program logistics, purchasing and preparing materials, managing supplies, and coordinating program schedules.
Reliable transportation is required. The position requires regular travel from Northwestern's Evanston campus to community sites, including transporting supplies and small equipment.
Academic year hours include evening work at community sites (~3pm - 7pm) 1-2 days per week. Summer hours are ~ 9am-4pm on a variable schedule, generally 2-3 days per week.
Specific Responsibilities:
Experience working with K-12 youth in educational settings,supporting and strengthening community partnerships, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility and adaptability. Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to update/maintain the center's websites is required.

In addition to salary, this temporary position is eligible for paid time off and paid sick time in accordance with Northwestern University policies. This position is not eligible for other benefits offered to regular staff positions.
