Job description

Location: Gainesville, FL

Position: Plumbing Project Manager

About Us:

CT Mechanical, a division of Comfort Temp Company, is a growing commercial mechanical contractor built on integrity, accountability, and doing quality work the right way. Since 2014, CT Mechanical has provided comprehensive mechanical and plumbing solutions for commercial clients across Florida, with offices in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa.

We specialize in complex commercial construction and building systems, including plumbing, HVAC, pipefitting, sheet metal, equipment installation, and related mechanical systems. Our work supports projects in markets such as healthcare, K-12 education, higher education, government, commercial facilities, and other large-scale construction environments.

At CT Mechanical, we are not looking for someone who simply manages paperwork. We are looking for a leader who understands how plumbing work gets built, how labor gets planned, how schedules get protected, and how project profitability is maintained from turnover through closeout.

Job Summary:

CT Mechanical is seeking an experienced Plumbing Project Manager to lead commercial plumbing projects in the Gainesville market. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, budgeting, and driving successful project execution from start to finish.

The right candidate will have strong commercial plumbing knowledge, field credibility, financial awareness, and the ability to lead people, solve problems, and communicate clearly with clients, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, foremen, superintendents, and internal leadership.

This role requires someone who can manage multiple priorities at once, stay ahead of labor and material needs, protect project schedules, and ensure assigned plumbing projects are completed safely, profitably, and at the level of quality CT Mechanical expects.

If you are a plumbing construction leader who knows how to build trust with the field, manage job cost, stay ahead of project risks, and drive results without waiting to be told what to do, this may be the right opportunity for you.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned commercial plumbing projects from turnover through completion, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

  • Ensure the profitability of all assigned plumbing projects, with a target of achieving a minimum of 10% net profit.

  • Review project scope, budget, labor plan, schedule, drawings, specifications, and turnover information to identify risk early.

  • Forecast labor hours and manpower needs, including maintaining a labor forecast and 3-week look ahead.

  • Coordinate with field leadership to ensure manpower, materials, equipment, tools, and information are available when needed.

  • Track project progress, labor usage, production, change orders, material needs, equipment needs, and schedule impacts.

  • Develop and manage plumbing vendors and subcontractor resources to support project success.

  • Maintain strong communication with clients, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.

  • Address client concerns, field issues, schedule conflicts, coordination problems, and project obstacles quickly and professionally.

  • Coordinate with Estimating, Finance, HR, IT, Asset Management, Warehouse, and other internal departments to support project execution.

  • Manage warehouse coordination, deliveries, receiving, material staging, equipment needs, and project-specific inventory.

  • Follow purchasing procedures and help manage plumbing fabrication needs efficiently.

  • Review and support change order opportunities, documentation, pricing input, and scope clarification.

  • Support warranty needs and ensure plumbing-related issues are resolved in a timely and professional manner.

  • Participate in leadership meetings and provide clear updates on project status, risks, needs, and solutions.

  • Provide weekly project metrics to leadership, including labor status, financial position, schedule progress, risks, and next steps.

  • Help prioritize project tasks to keep schedules moving and deadlines on track.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships that support business development and long-term client satisfaction in the Gainesville market.

Requirements amp; Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent time in service/industry experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the commercial plumbing industry.

  • At least 3 years of management experience in project management, field leadership, operations, or a similar construction leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems, construction schedules, jobsite coordination, drawings, specifications, labor planning, materials, equipment, and project execution.

  • Experience managing project budgets, labor hours, vendors, subcontractors, change orders, and client communication.

  • Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project documents.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly share information with field teams, clients, general contractors, and internal leadership.

  • Strong problem-solving, planning, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to motivate, coach, and develop others while holding teams accountable to expectations.

  • Comfortable managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines at the same time.

  • Alignment with CT Mechanical’s core values and long-term vision for the company.

Preferred Experience:

  • Commercial plumbing project management experience in healthcare, K-12, higher education, government, or large commercial construction.

  • Experience managing projects involving underground plumbing, sanitary waste and vent, domestic water, storm piping, medical gas, equipment connections, and plumbing rough-in through final inspection.

  • Experience with labor planning, production tracking, schedule coordination, and coordination between multiple trades.

  • Experience with project management software, job costing tools, scheduling tools, and construction documentation platforms.

  • Experience working with general contractors, owners, inspectors, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Experience supporting prefabrication, material planning, warehouse coordination, equipment procurement, and closeout.

What Success Looks Like:

A successful Plumbing Project Manager at CT Mechanical is proactive, organized, and accountable. They know where their projects stand financially, understand what the field needs before the field is delayed, and communicate clearly when issues need attention.

Success in this role means projects are planned well, labor is managed intentionally, clients are informed, problems are addressed early, and the team knows what needs to happen next. This person does not wait for a project to fall behind before taking action. They stay ahead of the job, protect the schedule, support the field, and help deliver profitable work that CT Mechanical can be proud of.

Company Culture:

At CT Mechanical, our culture is built around excellence, integrity, teamwork, and accountability. Our core values guide how we work, lead, and serve our clients:

Do what you say.
Do what it takes.
Walk with purpose.
Do the right thing.

We believe strong teams are built through clear communication, trust, follow-through, and a willingness to solve problems together. We value leaders who take ownership, support the field, respect the customer, and care about the quality of the work being delivered.

This is an opportunity to join a company that is growing, investing in its people, and building a stronger future across Florida’s commercial mechanical construction market.
