A Temp Project Manager is a professional hired on a temporary basis to oversee and manage specific projects within an organization. Their responsibilities typically include planning, coordinating, and executing projects to meet defined objectives, timelines, and budgets. Temporary Project Managers are often brought in to fill short-term gaps, handle increased workloads, or provide specialized expertise for unique projects. They work closely with teams, stakeholders, and clients to ensure successful project delivery before transitioning out once the assignment is complete.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temp project manager?

To thrive as a Temp Project Manager, you need a solid background in project management methodologies, time management, and organizational skills, often supported by a bachelor’s degree and relevant project management certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2. Familiarity with project management software like Microsoft Project, Asana, or Trello is typically required to track deliverables and timelines. These abilities are crucial for ensuring project success within tight deadlines and variable organizational environments.

  • Heavy civil, transportation or highway construction experience.
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Previous TxDOT or major highway project experience is highly desirable.

Salary & Benefits

  • $125,000 – $150,000 DOE
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Company vehicle or allowance
  • Fuel card
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid Time Off
  • Long-term career progression on major Texas infrastructure projects
