The Temp Desk manages the entire process, from sourcing and interviewing candidates to matching them with suitable temporary assignments based on client requirements. This team ensures that businesses can quickly fill gaps due to staff absences, seasonal demand, or special projects. Temp Desks are crucial for companies that require flexibility and rapid workforce solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temp desk consultant, and why are they important?

Job description

Temporary Front Desk Receptionist

At Squire, we are passionate about helping our clients succeed through exceptional service, innovation, and collaboration. Our people are at the heart of that success, and we are committed to creating an environment where employees can grow, contribute, and make a meaningful impact.

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Temporary Front Desk Receptionist to join our team in the St. George, UT location. As one of the first points of contact for clients and visitors, this position plays an important role in creating a welcoming and professional experience while providing administrative support to our client service teams. The role will support seasonal fall needs from September 1, 2026 to October 16, 2026.

In this role, you will manage front desk responsibilities, assist clients and team members, coordinate communications and scheduling, and provide administrative support across the office. During peak periods, particularly tax season, you'll also assist with tax return processing and other time-sensitive client deliverables.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in providing exceptional service, and can confidently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced professional environment.

Responsibilities
  • Welcome clients, visitors, and guests and ensure they receive a professional and positive experience.
  • Manage the front desk and reception area, including answering, screening, and directing incoming calls.
  • Respond to client and team member questions and connect individuals with the appropriate resources when needed.
  • Coordinate and confirm appointments, meetings, and other scheduling needs.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and team members by phone, email, and in person.
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks, including scanning, filing, document preparation, mail processing, and records management.
  • Assist with the preparation, assembly, and electronic filing of tax returns during tax season and throughout the year as needed.
  • Prepare routine client correspondence and assist with correspondence to the IRS and other taxing authorities.
  • Follow up with clients regarding tax filings, documentation, signatures, and other outstanding items as needed.
  • Assist with client billing and other administrative processes.
  • Support the scheduling and coordination of client engagements, meetings, and firm events.
  • Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical client documents in accordance with firm procedures.
  • Coordinate with other Administrative Assistants to provide coverage, share workloads, and support firm-wide needs.
  • Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and attention to detail.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and firm information.
  • Provide additional administrative support and assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in reception, administrative support, customer service, or a professional office environment preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to providing an exceptional client experience.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and identify solutions to problems.
  • Strong time-management skills and a commitment to completing work accurately and efficiently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new software and technology.
  • Familiarity with general office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute positively to a team environment.
  • Professional judgment, discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

Successful team members in this role are welcoming, dependable, and proactive. They create a positive experience for clients from the moment they contact or enter the office, while helping our professionals stay organized and responsive.

You take ownership of your responsibilities, communicate clearly, and remain organized when priorities shift or deadlines increase. You notice what needs to be done, take initiative to help, and can be counted on by both clients and colleagues.

At Squire, you'll be part of a collaborative team where your work directly contributes to the experience we provide our clients and the success of the professionals you support.
